Rabbit Leader
All, I'm just pondering what to do with my Tamiya Mosquito FB.VI and ideally I would like to finish this off as a Far East bird (either SEAC or RAAF). All photographs I've come across seem to indicate that Mosquitos sent out to this theatre of operations were equipped with the longer under engine nacelle tropical filters. AFAIK, all common 1/72 Mosquito mainstream kits only include the standard shorter intakes, so does anyone know if an aftermarket set of these longer filters exists? It would appear that an aftermarket High Ball conversion (of unknown origin) does include these longer intakes, however I'm just looking for the intakes and not full resin set. Any direction / advise for this topic would be gratefully appreciated. Cheers .. Dave.
stevehnz
Dave, Paragon did some of these but of course they're well nigh unobtainium now. The Blackbird Highball kit also has them I think. I know I got at least one of the Paragon sets when the rush started & I've a Highball conversion set. so bear with me for a few days & I'll dig some stuff out & see what I can find, if I reckon there is a spare there its got your name on it. Rabbit Leader
Steve, As always - a true gentleman. Thanks for taking the time to see what spares (if any) you may have. I reckon there's always a market for these, so lets hope that someone may oblige the modelling public in good time. Cheers and thanks.. stevehnz
Bad news Dave, I can only find one set apart from the ones in the Higball conversion set & that is earmarked for an SEAC Mosquito. Even they will need some mods according to "The Wooksta" in this thread & in truth, they don't look like they'd be too hard to do something with some card. Sorry bout that, put it down to faulty memory. Steve.

There's plenty of Mossie squadrons that I want to model, so this one (just) mind end up as originally planned - a 464 Squadron machine. .... serves me right for changing my mind midstream - I'm a shocker for that!! stevehnz
A 464 sqn one would work for me Dave, my uncle was with 464 when he was killed, so the sqn has a big part in my heart. I find it hard to choose between 464 & 487 as to which has my loyalty the most. Level pegging I reckon. Steve
Rabbit Leader
Steve, I have read various threads about 464 Sqd as well as your Uncle's tragic loss in SB-F, HX912 back in 1943. As things would have it, your Uncle Bernard Hannah's fellow crewman was Flight Lieutenant P C C Kerr? What are the chances of a Steve Hannah (you) & David Formosa-Kerr (that's me) talking about modelling this aircraft 70 odd years later! Cheers from across the ditch! stevehnz
Just a bit strange in a nice but slightly eerie way. I've just had a someones walked over my grave feeling. Steve.
