How do I post Pictures?

Hi TheCrustyOne!

I too have had a load of problems with Flickr linking to BM. Infuriatingly, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't! I feel your pain!!

Picking up on Troy's suggestions in post #442 above, my Flickr arrangement must differ from Troy's slightly, but I'll talk you through what I discovered. BTW I'm using FireFox as a browser with Flickr.

So...

  • Go to your picture hosted on Flickr, click on it so that it appears on its own with a black background
  • Look at the bottom right of the screen for an arrow pointing to the right (says 'share' if you hover over it) and click on that
  • Choose the 'BBC Code' option
  • You'll get a size menu in the lower box that appears - Large 1600 x 1200 is about as big as you can go.
  • In the upper box you'll get a very long string of code - highlight and copy this
  • It will look like this 48464597052_c22c2918ac_h.jpgIMG_2787[1] by Your Name, on Flickr
  • Copy and paste this string into the reply window here on BM for editing
  • Now edit the string above by removing beginning and end to leave this bit https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48464597052_c22c2918ac_h.jpg
  • Copy this edited string into the 'Insert Image from URL' box at the bottom right of the Reply Box here on BM
  • And...
  • Note the picture appears within the 'Reply' box so you KNOW it will work when you click the button to upload your reply

you can do it with the mouse,  try right clicking, or use keyboard shortcuts

that what CRTL + C means, pre the Ctrl and C buttons at the same time, that's copy,  ctrl+X = cut, CTRL+V = paste

If computer are not you thing, THE shortcut to learn is Ctrl+Z,  that undoes the last action!

Crusty, when you choose an image in Flickr and click on it, it will open a new page that should look like this.

48476203676_8d4affc8a1_b.jpg

On the lower right side, there are three icons. Choose the centre one, the right-pointing arrow and click on that. It will open another window that should look like this:

48476203721_354d00cd3a_b.jpg

At the top, there are four options. Click on the right side option, the BBCode.

Below that, you will see the URL code. Click on that to highlight it, most likely in blue. Right click or whatever you do with your laptop, to get a small window to open and in that window click on COPY.

Now come back to the forum, to the REPLY box where you want to post the image. Click in the box where you want the image and choose PASTE.

The URL code should then be in the REPLY box.

Click on SAVE  and you should have your image posted.

Now, in that second image I posted above, there is another small box with some numbers in it, like this: 800 x 600.

This is the size of the image you are posting. If you click on the small downward pointing arrow to the right of the number, you can change the size of the posted image. You should use the 800 x 600 as a minimum, so that your posted pictures can be easily seen by everyone, including old gits like me.

Now, there will be extra code on both sides of your posted image. This extra can be eliminated if you wish, but that can wait until after you've got the posting thing down.

Just one other thing to remember is photo sizes. Before you upload from your computer to a hosting site, make sure that they are not too big. I think that the limit is about 1200 pixels, but I regularly use approximately 900 x 600. This gives perfect size once posted on here.

A positive thought from me; Mods, has the forum software been amended to make linking to Flickr easier?

I uploaded some pics yesterday, and in the editing screen the links I had pasted there from Flickr immediately changed themselves into pictures. There was also a black bar appeared which told me that the links had been processed and asked if I was happy with this? All new (and welcome) to me.

Made my life easier, so thanks

Hmmm! I must try something:

<a data-flickr-embed="true"  href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/100165274@N08/48430969566/in/dateposted-friend/" title="FMA &#x27;14 14"><img src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48430969566_3005cd6d6a_c.jpg" width="800" height="600" alt="FMA &#x27;14 14"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

No, Flickr's EMBED option still doesn't work like it used to. I was hoping the forum was accepting that option again. Oh well, back to BBCode.

I have reached my 1000 photo limit on Flickr and would like to delete some of my photos In there.

Does anyone know if it is possible to delete more than one photo at a time from Flickr?  If so how do I do it?

Regards, Andrew.

Just click on the photo and look for the little box-shaped icon with a angled line, from the upper right side down into the box, and click on that. That is the EDIT icon. There will be a DELETE option.

I decided that the price of keeping all my images in Flickr wasn't very costly, so I just paid of having more than 1000 pics. It's about the same price as getting one Starbucks drink once a week. As I don't do Starbucks, I invested my $34.99 US in keeping all my pictures.

Looking good, Glen. May I suggest a slightly larger size? The ones above are 640x480. A size in the 800x600 range looks much better on my computer monitor. I can see more details at that size.

What is going on with Flickr? Is it a BM issue? I cannot get any links to work anymore. Last week I posted a picture of a Spit into the Export Spitfires topic no problem. I think I just pasted the URL into this text box and hey presto the image appeared.

Not now though. When I copy and paste the URL from my Flikr app I get a short URL, something like:

48795532241_9ee68c7429_b.jpg

Bugger! That’s worked when I manually typed in the link, but for some reason I cannot copy and paste into BM. I have to copy to Notes and then type the address in. Anyone got any ideas on why I can’t copy the URL from Flickr and just paste it in here?
