How do I post Pictures?

Mike

Recommended Posts

The problem was simply that the screen adjustment on my Computer didn´t (still doesn´t) Show the hit buttons completely and when hit either with a right or left mouse click doesn´t Show any reaction, it only works with a VERY carefully executed hit on the very much right side click on the button - alway after several attempts.
Excuse for the stole web space and thanks for your patience!

Hi exemplar, I'm working on a touchscreen phone, and I had big problems with photobucket - pop-up ads and promotions all over the screen, and always pushing in front of what I was trying to do. I got stuff about cleaning my phone after being on porn sites!?

Went on flickr and found it much better. It's got an auto-upload function ( not sure how I did it, may be a default setting) so pictures go automatically. All you gotta do is unlock them in to Public, copy URL (no direct/ forum/ email palaver) and paste on the cursor in my text. Bingo!

Still learning, don't know about slide show, think you can put a set of pics in an Album and paste the Album link?

Good luck

Just thought I'd throw in a recent discovery I have made.

You can link to pictures from dropbox, I think it's maybe a bit easier than the online image stores as it is on you computer.

If you go to you image and right click and select "Copy Dropbox Link"

Then come to your post and "Insert other Media - Insert Image from URL"
Ctl+V will put :

in the box.

What you do is change dl=0 to raw=1
" https://www.dropbox.com/s/lvp7posa47a3lfs/IMG_0873.JPG?raw=1"

And that will post the image to here

I am still trying to post a photo.

I opened a flickr account, posted the photo there, then tried to download it to the Britmodeller site - unsuccessfully.

Any advice on how an innumerate, low-tech chap can do this would be appreciated.

I use Photobucket on my iPhone and have never had a problem with barely noticeable ads at the bottom of the screen.

First open Photobucket as a separate screen (flipping between the pages to carry out the below procedure). Then find your photo and then tap the screen.....

67C7937B-0952-42D1-A62B-ADFF0477E8F0_zps

hit the 'i' button and get this.....

18C9B697-9887-42E1-A4C4-C9B8886F4F3F_zps

tap the 'Direct' option and the green 'link copied' icon appears.

On your Britmodeller post, tap the screen and select paste.

The link appears briefly as a link before automatically converting to a picture. It will then give you the option of putting it back as a link instead.

Hope this helps.

Trevor

Many thanks for your replies.

I've got my photos on Flikr, so now what do I do?

When I start a post, how do I pull up my photos from Flifkr onto the post? I can't seem to establish a link. If you could assume that I'm a complete computer moron (which I am) and reply with a simple ''which key press'' approach, I'd be very grateful.

I went through this a month or so ago with flikr and the usual suspects.

Being low-tech, I tried a site recommended by a forum member called imgur.

It worked for me.

Both this and another major forum seem to reject Flickr share (Direct) links now. Photobucket is the absolute pits and I refuse to have anything to do with it, so let's have one more try with Yahoo's finest...

Nope. The 'Insert Image From URL' box merely turns a fetching shade of pink.

I am in a foul mood tonight anyway but this is getting beyond a joke.

I'm sounding like a stuck record now as I've advocated this site many times. Try Village Photos. Compared to Photobucket it's a doddle.

OK, now I'm assuming that you've registered with Village Photos and that you have uploaded your photos to the site. BTW. I'm a know nothing when it comes to computers, but I'll try and talk you through the process of posting photos on BM via Village Photos.

Once you've logged in on VP's, go to your albums. Open up whichever album that you want to post from. Click on the photo that you want. Up comes a long box with a blue banner entitled "Manage this album". Within it is an Image URL. Drag the cursor all the way along it so that it is highlighted in black. (I've got to think now because my mouse is set up for left hand, so everything is a*se about face). Right click on the URL and then left click on "copy". Go to the page that you want to post the photo on, left click and then right click on "paste". The URL should appear briefly on the page and then within a couple of seconds, change into the photo.

HTH's.

Well it's awfully decent of you to take all this trouble, Sir -I appreciate your help no end! Now, I think I did all those steps, and I should have ended up with a photo of a Tomcat nose gear bay in 1/72 of (*ahem*!) unparalleled beauty and finesse... .

However, I was under the impression that the photo URL had to be inserted via the 'Insert other media' button down by here ¬

Let's have another shot, but leaving that bit out:

Mille Tonnerres!!! A shade domineering, but that's 'cause I never bothered to re-size it to forum-friendly...duh!

How can I ever thank you, masked guardian?!

*Edit*: Photos of strange, half-chewed model projects will now be appearing in the most inappropriate pages.

I usually resize photos down to approximately 920x690 before uploading them to Village Photos. That way when they are posted on BM hey don't take up too much space. Glad it worked out for you.

We do our review photos at 1280 x 850 maxi, as it's a picture size that fits well with the window of your average browser, and it's large enough to show detail without getting too big in terms of file size.  If you optimise it for the web too, that will shrink down the file size without compromising too much in the quality :)
