Hi Audifan,

Just came across your post. Regarding the metal kits, you can still get the Silver Ghost, new from SE Finecast. It retails for around £90. You can, in fact, get most of their car range, plus the car models that Autokit used to make.

What you can't get is the MGB series, the Mini, the MGA and the Morgan Plus 8. They are discontinued at the moment and I think have been out of production for a while.

SMTS don't sell the Jaguar E Type any more. This was discontinued a while ago.

They're all reasonably accurate kits but need a fair bit of work being metal.

Hope this helps.

Dave

Tnx, I haven't decided if I keep them or sell them yet. I'm not skilled enough yet to give it a try.

Well..... saving is for old people.

Picked up som kits last night again. Shipped from a "source" in Germany. Previous owner is 72 years old and has a collection of approx 4500 kits/cars that he is selling. Has been collecting cars in 50+ years and has A LOT.....  me like.

sry for the size on the picture.

A couple of cheap RS500s off eBay

I didn't know such things existed! Last three I got rid of made me a healthy profit! Good job I'm keeping my remaining four then!

And talking of profit I seem to have become a 'Corgi Vanguards diecast investor'! Got so fed up of letters from the bank telling me that they are reducing the interest rates on my savings again (if it goes down any lower I'll be giving them money!) and seeing the price that 1/43 diecast Mk1 & 2 Escorts are going for (a Mk2 Mex sold for £55 on flea bay today, I bought one new for £14 a couple of years back) I've decided the return on them is better than any savings account! Well that's my excuse! So this week I've bought 2 of the anniversary white Mk1 Mexico's & a Daytona yellow jobbie. And pre-ordered an Electric Blue one from Hattons.

Of course, I'll never sell any of them....!! :D

Hi Keith - if it reassures you any,  they only seem to exist as part-builds or similar!

Mine were both sub £20 but the Trampio one was assembled and the body (very) roughly hanpainted - nothing Mr Muscle oven cleaner didn't sort in about 1/2 an hour. The Texaco version was relatively untouched, purporting to be a donor for a "lightning rod conversion" (slot car?) and may be missing bits. Photos suggested most of it was there so I took a leap of faith and bid. When it arrived it appears to be missing only one head and one tail lamp lense - fortune favoured the brave in this one - for a change! :D Phew!

Sounds like a model bumper car? Do such things exist?! Great stuff that almost everything was in your kits, two good bargains there! One of my remaining ones was a 'cheap' e-bay buy from many years ago before prices went stupid and was supposed to be 'complete & untouched'. When it arrived the body was roughly primed in grey aerosol & the clear sprue was missing - which had somehow been in the pics! Fair play to the seller though, when I complained he said he'd 'borrowed' someone else's piccie & hadn't checked his kit at all - he said he was a kit dealer & too busy! So he give me a refund & told me to keep it so I got a free Sierra! Thinking of building it as a mod-prod hillclimb car as they don't need lights!

I was given a free RS500 kit as my friend though he'd lost the decals. He found them later but I'm now eyeing up the transkit Reji are about to release for it now lol.

What's the transkit for Ashley? I've got a Rennaissance rally transkit for one of mine, looks very nice. Had it for years mind...!!

It's for the White Texaco car that entered the '87 Monte Carlo. Comes with decals and a transkit. Though my experience of Reji Transkits, they always seem to leave something out, or just be full of air bubbles lol. Decals are usually great though.

I don't think I've ever had a transatlantic parcel delivered so fast. I ordered this through Amazon UK from Mitros Toys in New Jersey on the 25 January and it came today the 31 January! As soon as I opened the packaging I started to laugh, what silly box art work! I don't normally save the box top art, but as this is by far the funniest I'll pin it on the wall of my cabin where I do all of my modelling!

I did ask before I bought it what scale it was but it's not anywhere on the box, but I'm pleased because it is quite big and lends to a bit of detail work!
