What CAR/BIKE kits have you recently bought 2?

OK, I'll fess up... I went to the LHS yesterday to get some supplies, also with the thought of looking for something to break the long build of the Benz truck (of course, I could have done that with a stash item, but hey). And came home with this:

I love these Chevy pick-ups, wanted one for quite some time. I posted one in the "spot of the day" recently and only just now realized (after checking the picture) that that was this exact model! So, this just had to be 🙂 .... I've already started it, which was a must because my "stash" cupboard is actually full, but now it's on the bench so it didn't count as stash 😎

Don't know yet if I feel like starting a build thread. All I can say for now is, if you have one of these, make sure you're in good supply of sanding paper and milliput before starting the build!

Now to see if I can get through the rest of the year without any more purchases...

Yeah, right.

It's a '65 Pontiac, what's not to like? Though I do prefer the stacked headlights of a GTO. Ooooh, GTO.....

This is one of the few bits of 'quantity control' I'm any good at - keeping just one kit on the table at a time (excluding the bodyshells I spray through summer ready for building in winter).

When I get around to it I will be doing it stock, so I will have the stacked headlights rather than that rather dodgy 'custom' front end they put on the box - that picture had put me off the kit for the best part of two years until I discovered that you could build it as a stock GP. That said, my eye does keep being drawn towards that Revell GTO - yet another one taunting the wallet. Incidentally, the Grand Prix is huge - although it's a 1/25 when I put the shell next to the Hasegawa Jag XJ-S body and lined the front ends up, the back of the Jag only lined up with the rear pillar (can it be a C-Pillar in a pillarless car?).

It eventually sold for over sixty pounds!

That's cheap - I've watched them go for over three figures - and once saw an Airfix Victor Estate 'sell' for over three hundred (although if the 'buyer' ever paid, who knows?!)

I suspect not. If it's the victor estate I have seen on ebay, it constantly re-appears at a start price of £450! again, and again and again....

I think I just happened to be there at the right time. I last built one nigh on fifty years ago!

I doubt I'll build this but will sell it on eventually. I just want to own one again for a while.

The modified Capri (Kool Kat?) was on there last week, and there's an Escort starting at 45 pounds!

Thanks, Pete

No, different seller, but I do admire the £450 seller's determination and persistence!

OK, I barely managed to squeeze this one into the cupboard but it's there 🙂 ... Cupboard now full. Now let's see how long before I start bending my rules about cupboards in relation to stash size...

Anyway, I've loved these Scania Torpedo version trucks since I was a kid. Italeri has a kit of the original T143 but it's a rare find, so I settled for the H version which went for a good price on the second hand, although the kit is new.

Not many posting on this subject for a while . Here’s what I have just purchased . The Celica I built earlier this year went well , so hopefully this will be my winter project .

We were away over Dad's Day so our youngest son dropped this in on our return...

And as another web site/magazine have built this in the latest edition of their mag, I was lucky to find this at a good price on ebay UK, and have a go at building it myself!.....

Picked up the Custom Tuned version of the 1/12 Tamiya Honda CB750F the other day .  Rather strangely , when I looked at the chrome sprue it was shiny on one side & matt on the other .  I queried this with The Hobby Company who checked with Tamiya & apparently it's supposed to be like that though for the life of me I cannot fathom why .

Since I followed @Spiny Trabant build I wanted to build one myself, found one today in a physical store for a decent price.  Not often I find a good physical store close to where I live nice to avoid shipping costs. :)

Happy to have turned you to the dark side of building rubbish cars :)

It's a nice kit, and probably builds more solidly than the real thing too. Enjoy!

Two off the bay.

A slightly started Tamiya Porsche Boxster and a Monogram Ford Capri of 1976 vintage.

I think they both need a little tidy up and will then be sold on here.

I've wanted the Capri for decades but my tastes/builds have changed a lot.

I'm sure there must be someone on here who will appreciate and build it.

(Please form an orderly queue)

I'd be interested in the Capri . May I have first refusal on it ?

John, It shall be yours. After I've had a play, obviously.

Thanks mate . Drop me a PM when you're ready to sell . There's no rush though - I'm away on holiday from Saturday . We're going to Oulton Broad  , home of Hannants .

You are probably right. I told my dad I am probably better off with the 1:24 version than the 1:1 one. :) I saw Revell did a Trabant 601 limousine as well maybe I will pick that one up too.

I bought a Bandai Pendle Princess traction engine on Ebay yesterday .  I've wanted one ever since Ted Taylor built his in Scale Models around 1980 but I couldn't afford it at the time .

If you don’t have it, I can send you a copy of the Scale Models article, though it’s more a “review with hints” than a complete build article...

best,

M.
