No kits, but some nice decals and paints for a few builds planned for next year :)

I'm going to build more next year and buy less, honest......... 😅

Hi Redstaff,

I see you have purchased these Decals from Spot model?

I have often looked at their site but have been put off because they are in Spain.

Are there any other charges incurred for customs etc when their items are delivered from Spain?

What sort of delivery times to you usually get from them?

I look forward to seeing the Tyrrell being built.

Best Regards

Keith

Hi Keith

I've never paid any custom charges, think it is all calculated into the postage, which isn't too bad.

Better if you build up a shopping list though if you need stuff rather than 1 thing at a time, as postage costs get spread over multiple items

Delivery not too bad, the decals were dispatched on the 13th and arrived yesterday (19th) but stuff in boxes seems to take a week and a half ish usually rather than the decals which were basically a large letter. The paint was from Hiroboy, which I prefer to use, but the decals weren't in stock there

Thanks to @Marco F. for this suggestion, this should solve my Volvo 240 street version interior and wheels problems.

The resin stuff at Spotmodel was very tempting but over twice the price of this... so yeah...

I hope my idea concerning the needed parts will work. So good luck and looking forward for the upcoming build

I just won a few old beauties on a good auction site for modelling people.

Favourite (at the moment...) is an Entex Triumph TR3 in 1.24. I think my absolute favourite little sports car is the TR2, and I'm already wondering if a conversion is feasible . I don't think there's much difference apart from the big shiny grill,  externally anyway.

And an Austin Healey 3000 from Revell in 1.32. It's gonna be old-school for sure--  I'd better go on Scalemates.com and check it's history.

A few other wee gems included ️

Not sure when they'll arrive with the whole festive season kicking off, but something to look forward to 😎

Oooh, I really envy you the TR3 kit.  Like you the TR2 is a firm favourite of mine and bearing in mind how the TR3 grew out of the '2 it'll be interesting to see how the 'shell looks without the grille.  I don't reckon it'll be far away.

If you want a TR2 or TR2A the Gunze Sangyo kit comes up on eBay reasonably often, for not daft prices if you find a UK sale... It's the same heritage as this TR3:

My builds this year were a bit thin on the ground for a variety of reasons. Acquisitions were another matter, with a steady flow of four wheeled goodness turning up here. @Mjwomack put me on to an auction not far from us both. We both came away with a healthy number of kits!

It's a bit of a show off, but this lot are my keepers. End the year with a bang!

I bought a few others to move on, with the intention of going some way to pay for the keepers. I live in hope.

Here we go then...

A Revell Hot Rod series Revellution funny car. A bit of wear to the blue areas of the box top, the rest is as it left the factory.

IMG-20231230-142440.jpg

Gene Snows Funny car, a first issue kit this time. A couple of awkward bits are missing. The tires and decals! Something will turn up at some point.

IMG-20231224-121939.jpg

Threee(!) Jo-Hann period Funny Car kits. Rare as rocking horse droppings and a very welcome addition to the collection. The Javelin is started and I'll probably finish it at some point.

I've read of this one, but never seen one in the flesh. It bombed on introduction, and is also in the rocking horse droppings category. I'm still in a bit of a daze now having a copy.

I present the early sixties Monogram Futurista three wheeler show car, in all its mint glory.

Reliant, eat your heart out.

IMG_20231224_120925.jpg

And to finish a rather self indulgent posting, a riot of Monogram sixties color. All near mint and complete. Bought to upgrade kits already here. Once I've sorted out what I've got, I'll move on the remains.

What a way to end the year!

Happy New Year to one and all,

Tony.

That's exactly what I told my wife- actually I'm pretty optimistic. Next one is at the end of February, though I'm sure LSK have already told you that and will probably mint eda golden paddlel for you after your services to old school auction houses!!!

I've rounded up a couple more likely lads for the next trip, fortunately our 'specialities' are sufficiently diverse that there shouldn't be any blue on blue!

Happy modelling

Wow., nice haul, especially the Jo-Han stuff.  I might be able to help with the funny car tyres; IIRC those 1/16 rubber tyres tend to disintegrate over time.  If you're not set on original parts I could probably print replacements.  I'm finishing off these F70-14 Wide Ovals for the '67 Mustang I started for the group builds, so slicks and front runners would be simple in comparison.

That look really good. Printed wheels and tyres look to be the way forward with model cars. They seem to look so much better than even the best kit provided version.

Thanks for the print offer, it's very much appreciated. I'll pass for now though as I have far too many other projects to clear up before I can even think about this one.

Have you seen this sports roof Mustang with printed rolling stock?

I just got this 1/20 scale kit.

lotus63_02.JPG

Lots of resin in the box and a very nice vac formed window.

It got two different rear wings and two different noses with three different wings so all races are covered.

lotus63_01.JPG

Five double sided pages of instructions and a page with templates to align parts right and to form some parts like the roll bar. No decals though. There is a PDF file so one can print them but neither my laser or inkjet  has been able to print on decal paper.  But I compared the PDF with decals for the Lotus 49B and I can use most of those here.

I almost forgot to mention, it is the 4wd Formula one car Lotus 63 from the 1969 season. It was one car that I never expected to be able to build.
