just sold one for £80, bet it has a bent frame?

Mine came from the Wirral, the same price though. Looks completely untouched. I had read from someone who has built it here that the WM parts can be distorted. Of course, there is one just down the road from me going for a song as all the parts have been pinned out in a display frame for a shop display.

My SMW purchase was a Tamiya 1/12 Lotus 72. Despite buying many Tamiya 1/12 models when they first came out and being a big fan of Lotus, I had never brought one until now. I just need to make some progress on all the others!

I bought the 1/12th Tamiya Tyrell F1 kit the first time around! Must be 25+ years ago!

If you brought a Tyrrell 25 years ago, then it was a reissue! I think I brought the 003 kit in about 1975 and it was not when first released. I did buy the P34 when it was first released, I remember rushing in to Dorking Models when I heard about it and he had just received them that week. It was probably 1977/78 ish.

I am glad Tamiya re-release their kits, but they really should make some brand new ones. I heard a rumour that they were close to releasing a Porsche 956 kit in the 80s, but they thought it would be too expensive.

I'm not exactly sure of the time and date but it was a first issue. Time flies so fast nowadays.

The postie has just delivered this, won in an eBay auction by a margin of 60p with five seconds to spare.  Great price too, about half the going rate for this rarity.  I remember salivating over this beast when it featured in Hot Rod magazine back in the '60s, now I get to model it!

Another inexpensive 'already started' from ebay.. Aoshima Bunka Kyozai.

It says it's made under licence from Nissan, but what is the vehicle called?

It's a lowrider style 1st Gen Nissan Cima.

It's a boxing based on it's appearance from a 80's japanese manga called Shakotan Boogie , basically translated mean 'Lowrider Boogie'

At last! Thank you rx79guntank, I can now research that model of car, prior to building the kit.

From eBay, this excellent tinned Nascar kit.

With fresh decals too. I was hoping the tin would have protected the sheet all these years and it has. These are in great condition, no yellowing.

I'll paint and decal just the bonnet, if all good then continue with the body.

Looks a nice purchase, particularly as I know you're into Nascar kits. I'd never thought about a tin keeping the decals better than the usual boxes but it does seem that case from your photos. And as an added bonus you have a very useful tin once you've built it.

Only downside - there's something I find irrationally irritating about that cockerel! What's wrong with the usual side-on profile?

Not only that, but the cockerel on the decals doesn't match the one in the photo on the tin.

Well spotted. I went searching for images and found yet another different hood design.

You can see the tail in this one. This may be my favourite!

I built the MG TC kit in 1.16 MANY years ago, I think I splashed out with my student Grant money one term. (In case any youngsters are wondering,  they used to GIVE you money to go to uni, rather than charging a ransome.....sorry).

It survived for decades in my Dad's house and then with me, loosing the odd bit. I dig it out occasionally and look and ponder some scratch repairs and a makeover.

Did this recently and put it away again.

And then I spotted this on a good auction site....

.....put in a bid and BOOM.....got it!

Arrived earlier this week.

I'm thinking I can clone some parts like a windscreen and hood, maybe copy some  MG wingnuts?

So,head full of ideas and schemes, no plastic bashing yet. May end up with 2 TCs.

Looking at scalemates it seems my first effort was with one of the really early issues, but I can't remember the box art.

Well, one more for old time's sake!😎👍

If you haven’t built one of these yet, I’ll tell you, the quality of the molds are top notch, minimal to no flash, and barely visible seam lines.

My wife ordered this for my Christmas Present!

It's arrived in a box as big as any 1/24 or 1/25 kit! Now my wife has to hide it!
