How bad of me ! Box is bashed , contents unscathed ( apart from being all wrong … ) It was cheap with no Ford tax for once . So I couldn’t resist .

Gary .

Make sure you check the bodyshell .  I had that exact boxing ,  bought new and shrinkwrapped from a shop , and the body was a clear version of the Zakspeed Group 2 racing version .

Enjoy that one @Spiny. The back end is a lot of fun to get together, believe me. You’ll need to test fit, ensure nothing is warped, especially the near-scale suspension parts, and clean up any flash and seam lines…

But it’s a great kit of a fabulous car.

best,

M.

Thanks for the heads up and advice, sounds ominous but much better to know now that I need to be careful with those bits than after I've started gluing. The good news is that it is likely to take 3-4 years to journey through my stash so hopefully I can gain a few more and improve my skills before tackling it.

I had a birthday Amazon voucher burning a hole in my pocket.  I really didn’t need any more kits but then this popped up as I was searching!

I’m not really into drag cars but it seems a nice book and Tim Boyd is a respected modeler and author in car mags.

Thanks ! It’s all shrink wrapped , I checked everything and it’s definitely the rally bodyshell . The only problem is the tyres have been laid on top of the decals in the bottom of the box and marked the decals .

Bit of a shame really - if it did have a clear Zakspeed shell in it, it would probably be worth a fortune as a 'collector's kit' on flea bay....!!! 🤣

And then you could have got a few of the Italeri re-releases! :nodding:

Ha, I had a copy of that on my Ebay watch list recently, but figured I already have the kits I care about and the ones I don't, I probably can't afford...

Maybee the measurements should be checked to see if some of the wheels from on of FPPM's kit might fit, or ask Fernando if he would consider creating a set...

Actually FFPM has, or at least used to have, a dedicated wheel set for this kit, I have just found out.

FPPM. I'm very sorry, I mixed up the two characters in the second post. FPPModelos or Fernando Pinto Portugal Models.

Sure that's not the 1/12 scale Bentley wheels he makes? But I may be wrong.

I think so?  I've been wrong before though ;)

If this link works, that's where I got my info from:

Ah, yes, you are quite correct.

As so often I'm pretty good at forgetting (repressing probably) what I actually paid for something...🙄

:cwl: I think I'd be keen to forget/suppress that eye-watering number too.  Hopefully someone will do some good quality 3D printed wheels before too long, and won't require any of my limbs to pay for them ;)

Let’s be honest, at least there’s a barely adequate mk2 (yes I’ve been there, done that).  Where’s the Mini Clubman when you need it?

After seeing someone's build of the gorgeous Bentley Blower of the 1:24 Heller kit, I succumbed :owww:

It's a shame there's not much, if any aftermarket for this, as it could be a great kit with a bit of help.  I know the bigger Airfix kit has more potential due to its size, but this one will match (most of) the rest of the kits in the display cabinet.  If I ever finish one of course

The nearest to aftermarket that I have seen for these is the Revell rebox, which has a much better decal sheet (if of interest, I can scan the sheet in mine if you're able to print your own decals?).  As for potential, this series of Heller vintage / classic cars are much more prototypically correct than most other car kits, and even though only 1:24, I reckon that many, including this one would make a great rolling chassis display.  As I have both the Revell and the recent Heller releases, it is very tempting to do that with one of them - either that, or re-body one as the car that Ian Fleming described in Casino Royale.

If you need one badly enough there's one sitting in my garage...!! :)

i do agree though, it's another kit I keep banging on about, there's more than enough kits of roundnoses and Hasegawa go and do another one...!! :(

Given that the Tamiya & Revell ones are now no longer easy to source, perhaps the arrival of the Hasegawa kit will be followed by various transkits, including a Clubman?

Hope so. There used to be a clubbie transkit fairly regularly available on ebay from somewhere in Europe, but haven't seen it for some years now.

Another Ford off e Bay at a reasonable price . Bashed box , contents unharmed . This is going to be the basis of my next build .

Gary.

Good choice, it builds up to a decent looking model with no major issues in the build process. The worst bit is the big decal that wraps around the front, I ended up chopping mine into pieces to get it to lay down straight. And don't do what I did and add the front wings before the instructions say so - you can't get the chassis in the body with them on. Other than that, the only thing to look out for is that some of the semi-circular pegs are the wrong way around (mainly suspension bits) and will need trimming to get in place.
