mtchllro
As my first civilian build I have pulled my 737 out of my stash . This might just be a newbie question but here goes. On the airframe the windows are open I.e.holes. With the decals there are rows of windows. My question is do the decals go on the outside over the holes or do I block the holes is first . Sorry if this is a complete newbie question but I'm sat here scratching my bonce and the splinters are starting to mount up.
niki
No need to apologize! When using decals, windows should be filled in first. Jessica shows us nicely how it's done here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234908622-embraer-e195/?p=2478034 Cheers, Niki
Skodadriver
If you have the Revell Air Berlin sheet it gives you the choice of silver frames (decals 24a and 25a) to go over open windows and black windows (decals 24b and 25b) to use if you've filled in the kit windows. The theory is that the clear decal film in the silver frames will simulate the glazing. I've never been convinced by that and I always fill my windows but the choice is up to you. mtchllro
Thanks for the advice. It is the Revell Air Berlin set I have . I am going to try and make the Windows first (utilising the copious packaging it came in) if that doesn't look right then it's out with the filler. Will have to wait a few days before I can begin dreaded mot...
Turbofan
Hi, I used the silver frames over open windows for my recent Ryanair build. I think it looks good! http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235005623-1144-revell-ryanair-boeing-737-800-fr2469-lcj-stn/?hl=ryanair Cheers, Ian
Graeme H
One small point that might influence your decision making The Revell kit has the window line about 1mm too low It's not that noticeable except on airlines that have a full length cheatline along the fuselage Proabably better to fill and use the window decals
