Bozothenutter Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Hi, Working on a Phantom with seamless suckers intakes. Though they were once white (as cast) they have yellowed a bit. As it is resin this means priming and painting. What would be the best way to go about this? I have been reading about closing one side up and sloshing paint around before letting it run out? And there is always the brush......
Jens Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 (edited) I would pour white acrylic paint through the intake if airbrushing is not an option. Jens Edited September 3, 2016 by Jens
Starfighter Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 The other problem is if you are doing an FGR 2 in the early grey / green camo you will have to paint the front section up as far as the wing leading edge in dark sea grey, unlike the Royal Navy birds, which had all white intakes. I believe this also applies to USAF F-4's as well , (Though obviously with their own camo colours ! )
PhantomBigStu Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Oh know, that means my finished ones are wrong 1
Deanflyer Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 I've just done exactly the same painting puzzle on the same intakes for my Phantom. I put my finger over the round hole at the engine end, and poured Mr Base White 1000 primer into the intake end until it was full. Then I just removed my finger and let the primer drain out back into the pot, stood the thing on end to let the drips flow away from the intake, and let it dry. Worked a treat... Dean 2
At Sea Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 I have this to do too as I have some Alley Cat ones... Sounds like a good plan. Thanks.
