I'll follow this with interest.

Funnily enough, I'm currently working on Ed's 1:48 21MF (Profipack). If this kit is anywhere near as good as that, it'll be a thing of beauty. I picked my kit up as a sort of 'maybe-whenever', as I don't even really like Russian jets, and I am so bloody glad that I did. I'm struggling to think of my ever owning and building of a better designed and engineered kit. I'm now going to visit my local and buy others in the Eduard MiG-21 range - including the one you are building.

:evil_laugh: ............ same as i, jckspratt1!!

First i wanted to build the Kinetic F/A-18C but it´s out of stock so i decided to build my first russian, and as you said, the kit is incredible good!

But you guys must wait for more progress, because here in austria is on friday and saturday the -- AIRPOWER16 --, the airshow with all the jets/formations i love (inkl. Frecce tricolori, Patrouille de france, BAe Hawk, Dassault Rafale, Eurofighter, Tornado, etc!!)

Hi,

good choice!

In case you'd be interested in MiG-21R with an Austrian connection ....

there is one at the rather excellent Museum at Zeltweg airbase.... a Yugoslavian MiG delivered by a defecting Croatian pilot!

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally, after a great AIRPOWER16, i find some time to start on the MiG

First, i try different RAL colors - the perfect match for the MiG interior is RAL 5021 water blue.

The finish is the best possible without an airbrush!

The following pic shows the first parts with interior color and Eduard PE:

And all of my work i done the last 2 days!

Tamiya pigments and an oilwash and the first parts are ready for assembling!

Hi Guy,

thanks for your comment! I think this color is the best i can do without an airbrush - also it´s easy to spray on :coolio:

I have a few pics of the Airpower16 in Zeltweg/Austria for you:

Yes it is looking good, well done so far!

Its probably too late now the fuselage is closed up, but if you have the canopy open you will be able to see that you have left off the rudder pedals and their etch straps - part D75.

Also a bit of black/dark grey for the arm and silver/annodised aluminium color for the handle on the throttle controls would be good too...

Keep it up!
