Hi all,

I am looking for a bit of guidance. Whilst helping clear a friend's Dad's loft we came across a large box of WW1 models; mostly in 1/72 scale. These will eventually be listed in the "For Sale" section.

However, in amongst them I came across a Hasegawa 1/8 scale Clerget engine kit. one of these, in fact:

http://www.hasegawausa.com/product-pages/hsgs1986.html

The box is a bit tatty at the corners but the parts are still sealed in their bags.

The only one I can find for sale is on Amazon at a little over £200:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hasegawa-Clerget-Engine-Sopwith-SP286/dp/B004JLMRE8

I have never seen this kit before nor can I find another one on t'interweb but that seemed a bit steep?

Can one of you WW1 specialists give me a clue what the kit is actually worth?

Thanks

Brian

Hmmm that is a difficult one. I haven't seen one for sale on evilbay but I am guessing that you would be waiting a while for someone to bite at £200+ although you may eventually find someone who considers it to be worth that for their collection.

You can set any price you like and eventually someone will pay it, just a matter of how long it will take.

Or you can put it on evilbay as an auction and see what it fetches. If you are lucky two people who really want it will see it and bid it up to a good price

Or you can decide what you consider a fair price and list it in the for sale section on here and see if anyone is interested.

I am guessing that somewhere in the £50 to £100 bracket would possibly elicit a bite but there is nothing to stop you listing it at a higher price and, if no-one bites, you can always edit the price down or be 'open to offers'.

I would certainly value it at around £75 myself if I had the loot spare but I have spent every spare penny on Wingnut Wings kits at the moment. :crying:

Just to say that you might find that this thread is deleted shortly as it tends to be that any threads which enquire about values or could be construed as trying to elicit a sale tend to be considered a no-no and the management delete them.

Not sure whether yours is the White metal or plastic 1/8th kit from Hasegawa but there is currently a White Metal kit on ebay in Australia which is sitting with one bid of approximately £57 on it.

A one sold on eBay not so long ago, it went for £15 or £20 (I cannot remember exact price).

One of two things, somebody has got a real bargain, or the Amazon seller is living in dreamland.

It's not my thing and I really don't have a clue, just saying what I saw on eBay.
