There are a couple of ejector pin marks or holes to fill, these are on the rear of the armour shield behind the pilot's head and are visible when the cockpit is constructed. The hole behind the headrest is filled now, both with superglue/talc mix. The cockpit was fitted to the lower fuselage piece, the bottom of the cockpit being the roof of the nose wheel bay. Time check... A hodfull of lead shot was added wherever I could to make sure it isn't a tail sitter. The instructions say 6g in each of the forward engine nacelles. I removed the great big alignment pin and socket from the forward fuselage and got more in there and in the nose cone. My (much) better half went out to the greenhouse while I was fettling, hence the 'snack bowl'. The main lumps are together and it's time for an Aldi (other discount supermarkets are available) Snack Noodle. Yummy. All the food groups.... simulated. Natter Posted August 27, 2016 Author Share Posted August 27, 2016 Thank you for the encouragement mes amis. There have been some challenging gaps to deal with during the construction. Getting the front of the engine nacelles right was quite difficult. The fit of the nose wasn't great either, but that may well have been my own fault. The nacelles and the nose were fettled with my old favourite of superglue and talc. The boom intakes were given the assistance of my second favourite filler - Perfect Plastic Putty. The masking of the canopy had to be done at some time, but a steady hand would be required. What the heck, the sun was over the yard arm... somewhere it was anyway........ Time for something to fuel the body. House Special Fried Rice and a Belgian Bun for afters. Nom, nom, nom........ Canopy masked and the framing sprayed, time's a tickin'. Everything is primed. If I hadn't picked 2100 as a finish time I would probably try and get a coat of silver on the airframe. That will have to come tomorrow, by the time I had the airbrush cleaned it was almost 2100. The sound of toast being made by my (much) better half made him race for the kitchen. The exhausts were paiinted with Humbrol Steel from the Metalcote range, allowed ten minutes to dry and then polished; ready to be weathered. The red fin tips and the red stripes on the booms were masked and painted. The decals are only for the outside of each of them, but I beleieve from reading around a bit that the red was on the inside as well, so I went for the mask and paint. Some of the red has bled under the masking tape, not great but not surprising as it took four attempts to get the red to spray properly. The spinners will have to be redone though. Natter Posted August 28, 2016 Author Share Posted August 28, 2016 FAIL. Sorry comrades, I failed. As you can see from the clock I finished at 2200, not 2100. A 25 hour build window and not a 24 hour build. I apologise. I didn't want to cut too many corners in completing the build, not spoiling the ship for a hapeth o' tar and all that. In an ideal world the anti glare panels would be matted down and some weathering and panel lining would be applied, but in the spirit of the build I will call this one done. A question to Enzo - I was outside the Blitzbuild rule of 24 hours, would you still like me to post in the Gallery? For now, with the clock at ten pm, this is her built and painted.
