Graham T
Don't often do WIPs but here's one. Magnificent kit with generally great fit. The only issue so far has been the cowling to fuselage joint where the former is about 4mm deeper than the latter. I had to pack the joint between the fuselage & lower wing with card to deepen it & achieve a reasonable fit which left quite a lot of filling followed by awkward sanding but I'm optimistic it'll be OK in the end. This is the most recent issue of the kit that where the, having specified from Fisher the open or folded wing option, the wing is a single piece (more precisely three pieces for the folded option as here) that does away with quite a lot of work. Also it includes a beautiful representation of the Centaurus engine that can be exposed on the finished model.
Breaker
Nice, this is one of two kits I want by the end of the year. Excited to see it progress.
Mike
Don't often do WIPs but here's one. Stop not doing them immediately! I do like a Fisher Sea Fury Last time I saw a real one flying, she developed an engine fault and has to return to base after a lap of Duxford. CJP
Packing out the cowl/fuselage joint is the main problem I had too - should be straight forward modelling now - look forward to seeing your completed model - good work
Graham T
Followed by some preshading - a new step for me but worth it I hope on a model of this scale.
Graham T
Starting to look like a Sea Fury! Paint on (I ******* HATE ******* Korea/D Day stripes!!!!), decals on, undercart attached. Lots of touching up & still some way to go on the construction.
Marv
Very nice job on the Sea Fury (I want one!). As an aside, we held our IPMS Region 9 contest last weekend (Fresno CA), and one of the vendors was Mr. Paul Fisher himself. Had had all of his product, as well as several built-up models that featured Fisher resin...all spectacular stuff. We chatted for some time, and I was very pleased with what a gentleman Paul Fisher is. Also at the contest were other giants of the hobby, including Mr. Roy Sutherland (Barracuda Productions), and Mr. Mike Valdez (Sierra Hotel). I think our chapter (IPMS Fresno) did good). Next time, ask him when he's going to do a 1/32 Barracuda! (We can dream; not holding my breath on that one...)
Graham T
Easy does it. Starboard wing in place & added the up-lock & hydraulic ram shaft.
Graham T
Knocking a rocket off the port wing meant I had to build & paint a replacement. In the meantime, I thought I'd have a crack at fabricating the three prominent latches that are a feature of the lower cowl when opened. Initially I used small strips of plastic: But I wasn't happy with the out of scale replacement, so I cut small pieces from the etched frame fret, bent & attached to provide a reasonable facsimile. Probably get knocked off in short order but looking better. I also painted the exhaust pipes on the exposed Centaurus according to the instructions - clear green for the rear sections & blue for the fronts, rather like the heat effect on motorbikes. Then applied a burnt umber oil wash to tone it down a little. Edited September 4, 2016 by Graham T
