ancient mariner
The latest rumour I picked up from a "reliable source" is that someone is going to re release the back catalog of Auroras biplanes. The box art has already being approved ,or so Im told. If it turns out to be true its going to knock the stuffing out of the fancy Ebay prices these kits are fetching. John Thompson
Interesting - this'll start a flood of nostalgic tears to rival the book of Genesis. Let me be the first - as a kid, I built the Sopwith Camel, and was quite impressed with how good it looked, not because of my building skills, but just because it was a really nice kit. JohnT
I seem to recall they produced some unusual types in 1/48 that at the time we're not kitted elsewhere?

Jeepboy
...lovely kits....now, what about their old Churchill tank (their other tank were a little dubious if I recall...)
cmatthewbacon
List here: http://www.wwi-models.org/misc/aurora.html DH10 and Gotha are pretty interesting 1/48 choices, and a Breguet (though that tooling may be lost)... Best, M.
spaddad
Hope you won't mind this post as it deviates a bit from the IP but I have a couple of questions, one related and one kind of. First question, which biplanes are we talking about, anyone able to provide a potential list? Second question, only very loosely connected, can anyone remember who made a relatively large scale (think it was about1/48thish) Folland Midge,at least I think it was a Midge, could have been a single seat Gnat? cheers, spad Edited August 13, 2016 by spaddad
Rabbit Leader
Firstly, for an approximate list, try the website Scalemates - https://www.scalemates.com/search-solr.php?fkSECTION%5B%5D=Kits&q=Aurora This link is filtered as 'Aurora', however you can trim it down even more by selected some of the options on the right. It would appear that the regulars are all there along with an Airco D.H 10 !! re. the Midge / Single seat Gnat, you may find this on the same website as well. Hope this helps.. If Paul Bradley drops by this thread, he might be able to post a picture, because the reason I know this that I watched him buy one at SMW in the year CBK SIG did a FROG display (7/8 years ago?) spaddad
Hi Mathew, thanks for that info, I had one when I was a young kid so,although I knew I'd had one, I was too young to remember the details but I do seem to have a residual memory (usually triggered by seeing photos of the Midge prototype with the civil registration) that it was the Midge but it is possible I may have made that up in my head, can you tell me what the scheme actually was, cheers, spad
cmatthewbacon
From some previous posts by Paul on UAMF, it's a Gnat F1, so your memory of a single seater is correct... No idea what markings it sported, though, I'm afraid! Best , M.

John
I remember Woolworths selling this range of kits at bargain prices in the late 1970s. I got the Fokker EIV and the Gotha. I recall the Fokker being bigger than I expected but the Gotha was huge. I've got a DH10 in the stash that I've had for years but I'd love the chance to build a few of the others. Looking forward to more news. J
Dave Batt
Did they do those Magnificant Men era aircraft, Avro Triplanes and the like? I had one as a Christmas pressie once and still remember it fondly.

cmatthewbacon
Re the Inpact Magnificent Men -- they're back from Round 2 (I think), this year. The same folk who are reissuing Lindberg and Glencoe kits... Best , M.
Troy Smith
No that was Inpact see HERE for the full listing. One day maybe they'll be back as well NIck Lindberg has reboxed/re-issued the 'Magnificent Men' kits in the last few years, 2014 according to Scale Mates https://www.scalemates.com/kits/958100-lindberg-505-12-avro-biplane https://www.scalemates.com/kits/398598-lindberg-hl503-bleriot-monoplane-1910 https://www.scalemates.com/kits/398599-lindberg-hl506-deperdussin-1911 https://www.scalemates.com/kits/398685-lindberg-hl504-martin-handasyde-1911 I can't see the Boxkite and Avro triplane listed, but I assume they got repopped too, as did the Gladiator/Flycatcher/Fury/Bulldog kits, eg http://round2corp.com/product/fairey-flycathcer-hawk-fury-2-pack/ EDIT as noted by Matthew above But I don't think they were well distributed in the UK HTH T
SleeperService
Thanks for the updates Chaps. I shall keep my eyes open. The one I'd really like is the French piloted one. Any film which has Benny Hill in a cameo role has to be worth watching arguably the strongest cast in a British film ever. BOT I hope the Aurora kits do get decent coverage in the UK and Europe, I think they'll do OK.
JWM
The link which Dave gave in post #8 above made me really "daised and confused"... - what a variety of scales and models!: 1/27 (P40), ...., 1/96 (B 737), 1/103 (Convair 880) and 1/104 (B 707), 1/156 (B747), ...1/330 (B 36) - I quoted this by heart, so I hope I did not mix it...The MiG-19 from 1957 - which does not look at all as MiG 19...A lot of models with mostly historical value. But the WWI 1/48 set perhaps is worth re-edition.
chuckb1
First ever bi plane, the Albatross must have been about 11 or 12 years old. I remember it was a sort of bright green colour plastic.
