Braces, hooks, hinges and screens applied The main screen appears to be hiding the details underneath but I'm going on the principle that one it's darkened with paint and grime the underlying detail should become more visible. Time for a break to rest my eyes Phil
Phil Lewis
Eyes rested. Rear fenders added (with more photo-etch) and exhaust silencer fitted. Also distressed the curved mesh covers either side of the engine bay to make them look a bit dented And filled the horrible sink marks on the front armour plate Vision ports added to front and what I think is a curved deflector above the drivers vision ports. About time I went to bed Thanks for looking Sleepy eyed Phil Edited November 20, 2016 by Phil Lewis Adding a pic

Phil Lewis
More photo-etch action, stowage containers added (with PE) Dreadful kit jack remodelled and detailed using a Dragon kit part as reference Etch jerry can cages added to sides of turret. Remodelled jack fixed to stored location using etch clasps and the underside Getting a little punchy and the head's starting to pound again so time for a rest I think Thanks for looking Phil

Phil Lewis
I'm definitely going to replace the kit pioneer tools, or at least heavily modify them. First up is the shovel... Kit part.. Impressed? I wasn't Etched blade from the Eduard set after a bit of shaping Handle fitted to blade with mounting bracket and pocket(?) the result of a couple of hours work/faffing. Trial fitting of the shovel shows it to be about 3mm too wide to go where it's supposed to FFFFFFFFF!!! It would appear that the stowage box it attaches to the side of should be 4 or 5mm taller. So now I am faced with the prospect of either leaving off the spade I spent all that time on or very carefully removing the stowage box without damaging the etch brackets and building it up to the correct height. I need to think.... and sulk a little Thanks for looking Phil in a funk
The Spadgent
It's going to have to be the height gain. you know you want to. No pressure Phil. Johnny ps. Ruddy lovely shovel by the way. Edited November 22, 2016 by The Spadgent

Johnny ps. Ruddy lovely shovel by the way. Thanks John Grumps are over. I did a bit of research and on the preserved example in Germany (I think) the container is only very slightly higher and the D shaped holder for the shovel blade does extend above the lid of the container. All I needed to do was reshape the D shaped piece to reduce it's height by barely 1mm either side. The bracked that holds the D slot also received some trimming and bending that it wasn't expecting Shovel dry fitted in the holder. Shovel handle also got the reshape treatment A tad better now and a much happier Phil Thanks for following Suggestions always welcome Phil Edited November 23, 2016 by Phil Lewis add info
spursn17
Fantastic build, extremely well detailed. Are you going for a well used look or a fresh out of the factory finish? If it's the former I read about a tip for the engine screens lately, roll a marble or ball bearing over them to make them look like they'd been trodden on. Phil Lewis
Thanks for the kind comments all Attention turned to the pioneer tools axe as supplied in the Mirage Hobby kit...... They're kidding right? Hands up who thinks this looks like a deflated hammer. Checked the Dragon Panzer III kit to see if there was a spare, no such luck although on a positive side there were spare bolt cutters and crowbar. More on that later. At least I could use the Dragon axe as a guide. A spell of cutting, filing and sanding later and I have this.. Dragon version on the left Some photo-etchery later and we have an axe, a shovel and a set of bolt cutters loosely in place. The kit cutters are on the upper hull above the replacements from the Dragon kit. A considerable improvement I think. The etch clasps from the Eduard set are really good. I haven't added the locking handles yet as I put one on the cutter strap and it has now, quite literally, flown into the blue yonder. And without the tools. That is most definitely it for tonight Thanks for looking all Etchy Phil

Phil Lewis
Not been terribly well today so only managed to get an hour or so in this evening. My attention turned to the wooden block for the jack to stand on that is usually stowed on one of the fenders. The kit item looked something like this but about 2/3 the height (sorry didn't get a pic of the actual part before the mods) And is supposed to look something like this.. (Dragon Pz III kit part again for reference) After filing, carving and sanding down to the (more or less) correct size I then used a 60 and 100 grit sanding pad dragged a few times across the top surface in one direction and the two parallel sides to produce a wood grain effect. Painted a bit of tamiya extra thin on it to soften the grain and added the etch straps to end up with this Applied the etch corner brackets temporarily with a dab of PVA and glued them to the fender with cyano Lifted the block out for separate painting. The wood grain effect shows up well in this pic And here it is with the block temporarily placed in it's location. Thanks for looking an all the positive comments Phil the less than fit Edited November 25, 2016 by Phil Lewis remove double posted picture

Phil Lewis
In my line of work high ping is bad and low ping is good. When working with photo-etch ANY kind of ping is extraordinarily bad. Thus when, after my post last night, one of the brackets came adrift and I glued it back in the wrong place, my efforts to carefully remove it again resulted in a ping which caused it to fly off at high speed in the direction of the messiest area of the room. Once the air had returned to it's normal hue (not blue) I realised that there was another similar bracket which, with a little modification, would suit. Situation rescued. On to today. Cleaned up the handle and attached to the rear of the turret. Realised I had put the triangular braces for the rear fenders in the wrong place so removed and repositioned them. Cleaned up and thinned down the kit hooks and added the etch brackets. Cleaned the moulded bracket detail off the Dragon fire extinguisher and added the photo-etch bracket and clasp. Drilled out the exhaust Cleaned up and added some more of the spare tools from the Dragon kit and also repositioned the curved deflector above the driver's forward vision hatch to the correct location (top edge in line with the top edge of the upper hull. Time for a break Phil the thirsty
Phil Lewis
Last blast before bed. Small etch box with hinges and hasp folded and cyanoed to the suggested location. Non-specific box trimmed, cleaned and placed on right rear fender Kit trailer attachment point cleaned up and added to rear locating point. The original was a solid lump of plastic with just a suggestion of shape. Had to cut a lot of plastic out from between the plates. Will add pivot bolt when filler has set and been sanded. Thanks for looking I shall be heading off to bed now. Phil sleepy eyes
