Spot of the day!

Recommended Posts

A late 50's American car towing a caravan South of Gainsborough.

Then a WW2 jeep two minutes later.

A BRG Triumph TR3 a bit later East of Gainsborough.

Later on the A1, an American monster truck towing a caravan!

Earlier this week, on the way back from the tip had to give way at two different roundabouts to an immaculate Mk2 Cortina 1600E and then a Trabant 601....!! Then next day stopped on the other side of a dual carriageway, a 57 Chevy, followed shortly after by a fully rally prepared Mk2 Escort coming toward us.

I love that. A friend of mine had a similar vintage Sunbeam Rapier. He inherited it from his dad...

Cheers, Alan.

3 Apache gunships and a C-17 Globemaster!

An immaculate Capri Laser in Sunbury and an Alfetta GT on the M40.

And two McLaren MP4s on the M40 again.

The M25 & M40 were awash with Ferraris this afternoon, but also some more interesting vehicles:

  • Mini Traveler
  • Peerless GT on a trailer
  • Early 80s Mercedes SL
  • Multiple proper Minis
  • Another MacLaren MP40

Out near Spalding today,

In a garden near Holbeach I spotted

from the cab of the truck, an early Mustang

soft top in what looked like barn find condition.

In Moulton seas end is a garage that seems to

specialize in GRP car restorations, they had at least

four Elans in the forecourt area.

In the village of Lutton, on a driveway, what

looked like a freshly restored Mk1 Cortina estate.

How rare are they?

Near Sleaford was a red MGB on early Dutch plates.

A late 40s Chevrolet pick up in Banbury this morning, followed by a quartet of 70s and 80s fast Fords on the A43 this afternoon.

  • Fiesta XR2 MkI
  • MkII Escort in full rally get up
  • 2 MkIII Escort RS Turbos

All of the Fords were heading towards Silverstone on the A43, so not sure if there was something on at Silverstone.

Classic Ford Show at Santa Pod this weekend which would account for all the additional Fords in Northants. Going there myself tomorrow with a shopping list for the Fiesta.

A silver Lamborghini Aventador in my rear view mirror for several miles unable to overtake me!

Oh and it had a 'humorous' number plate that translated roughly to say 'look at me I'm a whacky kinda guy'.

Trevor doing the legal limit of 50mph indicated on the road signs

Seen this weekend:

An immaculate Honda Cx500 at the local Sainsburys

On the way to Bangor from Bristol and back this weekend:

An Isetta Bubble car

A Lotus Elite, the original fifties/sixties one, not the wedge

A Jaguar Series 3 E-Type Coupe, probably the 5.3 V-12

A whole herd of Morgans, together

Several Type 1 & Type 2 VW Camper vans

A Lancia Motecarlo

Two Jaguar E-type drop-heads

A Ferrari 430 (I think)

A Porsche 356 (possibly a replica)

Separately, two Mercedes SLs, early 70's vintage.

And finally, an immaculate Mini from about '63

Not a bad haul.

Cheers, Alan.

Grant

Knew nothing about that, looks very cool! Pendine is only about 35 mins away, wonder if I can persuade the missus that it would be nice to have a trip to the seaside...!!

Keith

Edit - good job I didn't ask her, just noticed it's in two weeks time...!!
