U-889 Revell 72nd

Recommended Posts

This is the wooden framed version of my cases.

Again, 3mm glass.

The scotia base trim sits just proud of the base to locate the glass tank.

The frame parts are stuck on with black polyurethane sealant or silicon is fine.

Thanks Bob.

Definitely not beyond a craftsman such as yourself.

I mitre the wooden frames 3 ways at each corner to preserve continuity in the molding.

The plain aluminium frames are only mitred around the top. The vertical bits are straight cut for simplicity.

I use a mitre saw and to be honest, the frames only represent a couple of hours fiddling around to get them spot on.

If you go down this route, I'd gladly do you step by step, not that it's rocket science.

Hi Bob,

I'm moving along with my Revell Type IX, I reckon I've nearly caught you up. :)

I have the full PE deck kit but I think I'm going to use the supplied plastic decks. The plastic detail is so good, IMO they may actually look better and the fit is immaculate.

Will still be utilizing every other PE part though, of which there are many.

Would love an update from yourself.

Andy.
