Joss
As my Jeep build is slowly driving me nuts! 🙃 I have decided to do something different for a while and then come back to it. I plan on using recreating a scramble scene with these two; Hopefully this one will go abit smoother! Thanks for looking Joss

Joss
Good evening all. I have made a start on the spit! Got most components of the cockpit paints and the undercarriage is all stuck together. I also managed to get the wings on as well! A few pics I've got the prop painted black and the exhausts have been base coated! I'm experimenting with a cooper with the base colour and building up washes! More to follow... Cheers Joss

Joss
Thanks for the comments guys!! I decided to start making a base! It felt like baking actually!! So here's some pics Firstly the ingredients Checking the dimensions should be 5x7 Added some blue tac for an improve edge to the frame (this will be removed once set) The filler was mixed with water to thin to a runny mixture. This was then poured into the "tray" This was smoothed with a coffee stirrer. And then sprinkles in the form of sand was added That's all for the moment folks, until the filler has dried. Then the bluetac can be removed. What could possibly go wrong! Thanks for looking More to follow... Hopefully! Joss

Joss
Cheers guys!! So the bluetac came of rather well a few bits of filler where pulled away... I think I'll sand the edges smooth then a spare of brown and few other colours before a payer of static grass. Thanks for looking Joss

PlaStix
Cheers stix (: So the spitfire is progressing however I have a question if anyone would be kind enough to answer. How does one get the blasted fuel tank to fit?!? I've found mine has sat to high and it's not actually wide enought! Any comments welcome Cheers joss Hi Joss. I'm assuming you mean the section that goes in front of the cockpit? If it is - it should actually sit very slightly proud of the surrounding panels as it was additionally armoured to protect the tank. If it seems too narrow it may be due to the fact that Airfix's tolerances are very fine. If you have any paint or traces of glue on the areas where it touches then it won't fit. I have known some modelers have to file away the joint areas on the inside of the cover. Kind regards, Stix
Joss
Ahh cheers stix thays good to know so I don't have to worry about sanding it flush!! I shall have a go as if other modellers have done it I might be in with a chance! Thanks Joss
Joss
Progress has been slow but I'm getting there. The spots all made the IP was to high so after sanding the fuel tank fits and long last! I've started painting the underside pics Sky with sky/white highlights Grey/sky mix post shade Followed by overall sky So what do you think not 100 percent sure so any comments or suggestions well!
