John_W Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Not a model, and sorta scif, my new KSC Auto 9 came Monday!!!! Nice.Saw one of these last weekend. Very accurate according to the guy that owned it, but it was 25 degrees and perfect weather for gas pistols.
SleeperService Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 No pictures but a familiar subject. Just got myself a 1/48 Naboo N-1 Starfighter. Very reasonable from a regal kit reseller. Stripping chrome first then sorting out a landing gear option for it based on the Royal Barge. I need something easy after recent events....who needs work apart from the money of course.
The wooksta V2.0 Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 They actually arrived yesterday, but I took delivery of these fellas: Very impressed with them and I'm likely to get the rest of their Blake's 7 figures. The Avon one comes with a casting for ORAC! Have a flip through the rest of the miniatures and see what takes your fancy. Have fun spotting what everything is! http://www.crooked-dice.co.uk/wp/product-category/miniatures/ 4
Zaggy Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 ah cool, post up when they come through. i like to see macross kits The Bandai stuff is really sweet actually - but at the same time, it tortures me! I don't like the transforming thing, so I tend to build them just in fighter-mode so I can keep the joins nice and neat... But then I want more than one of everything, so I can then do the same in battleroid-mode! At least the Hasegawa stuff makes that choice for me! Of the list that showed (that should have been a VF-27γ (gamma, not beta) too - the Brera Stern Custom), the VF-27γ is the nicest IMHO. Not sure why, but I just like it... I have a 1/100 YF-29 Durandel on the way, and am looking forward to the Bandai Macross Delta VF-31S 'Messer Custom' (the first of the Bandai VF-31S's is the Hayate Immelmann Custom) and then the 'Mirage Custom'. Later in the year, the Bandai TIE Interceptor will take more of my money as (unlike the FM TIE Interceptor) it looks like it is proper 1/72 - so I am in the DMZ regarding my TIE Interceptor-based projects! I need 4, but I only have 3 FM's The Four are required as per: 2x TIE/I for a TIE Defender (heavily modified ball, and the second kit will donate the required third set of collector panels) 1x TIE/I for a TIE/I Imperial Guard (the remaining set of collector panels should be enough to make the four 'winglets' on this version - and its RED!) 1x TIE/I for a regular old TIE/I So i'll probably get 4-6 of the new Bandai kits. Damn.... 2
Blastvader Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 This. I am officialy out of space in the mannex now. Shop closed. 3
TimMather Posted August 16, 2016 Author Posted August 16, 2016 just got a delivery from taobao. not had time to photograph everything, but had to show off this book, it is awesome.all artists renders of cool mecha scifi stuff, great for ideas, paint schemes and custom work.
TimMather Posted August 16, 2016 Author Posted August 16, 2016 right here is my haul, got 2 orders of paint, the mr color pastel set from US amazon, and gaia and mr color from ladypata on ebay.and my taobao haul.loads of bits and bobs and 4 books, also the master grade unicorn full armor parts/fuel tanks to use on the sazabi gundam kit. 2
Madmonk Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Postie dropped off a couple of Bandai TIE Interceptors this morning. Another great kit from Bandai.
Richard Baker Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Today I received some excellent photoetch grills for my Bandai 1/144 Falcon. Still not too sure how far I will take this particular build but the exposed vent fans in the rear deck demanded some grill covers. GreenStrawberry is a great source I had heard about for a while, this is my first order from them. I got this order in nine days, which is astounding since they are located in the Czech Republic. 1
FG2Si Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Wave teased a 1/72 Destroid Monster a few years ago but it never came out. So when Bandai announced a diecast one, I took the bait. I'm not sure of the scale but it's definitely big. Carl 5

TimMather Posted August 26, 2016 Author Posted August 26, 2016 got the framearms girl yesterday and the skell came in this morning, another month and not bought anything from bandai.the girl kit is awesome, it comes with a eggplane that you stick on her back, abit silly but i love it.the skell kit is abit small and totally over priced, i could have got a zoids kit with double the plastic for the same price, i think im just paying for the license!
Kallisti Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Very impressed with them and I'm likely to get the rest of their Blake's 7 figures. The Avon one comes with a casting for ORAC! Have a flip through the rest of The miniatures and see what takes your fancy. Have fun spotting what everything is! http://www.crooked-dice.co.uk/wp/product-category/miniatures/ Love the crooked dice figures and the inventive names they use to avoid copyright I've got some of their UFO Aliens, excellent stuff. As for my most recent purchases it was the Polar Models Decals set for the 1:1200 USS Defiant from Wrath of Khan - got stung for £11 customs charge on a $20 item bloody Post Office 1
Blastvader Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Not exactly delivered via post as I picked it up m'self but this: 3

Sadly I have learned that Green Strawberry has been lifting photoetch fret work from ParaGrafix- in short they are recasters (re-etchers?). This came up in a discussion on another forum and Paul listed several examples, from nesting to having details he had to invent since there was no specific reference and they were copied directly. I do not support recasters and so will never order from this company again. 1
directorcass Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Richard, That sucks about Green. I was going to get a set of his Falcon engine vents. What forum did this break on?
Richard Baker Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Apparently it broke on Starship Modeler several years ago when Green Strawberry was first getting started. I visit that forum daily but missed that story for some reason. I don't recall anything about GS until about three months ago and they looked pretty good for the price so I placed an order. In a discussion on Hobbytalk last month about photoetch parts for the Revell NuEnterprise kit the whole GS thing came up again. I had already gotten my parts by then and really hated to hear about what they had done with ParaGraphix's designs. I asked for some more details and got enough to satisfy me- Paul didn't want to get into what he considered old news but he ahs a solid reputation and would not make any comment unless he was 100% certain. Here is the HT Thread: http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/99-science-fiction-modeling/533546-has-anyone-found-simple-pre-made-solution-jjprise-bussard-blades.html SSM purges their older threads so there is no reference to the original discussion.
jaitea Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 (edited) I'm pretty sure that Green Strawberry were the first to release a PE set for the Bandai,....& have that 3 layer design.....It made news on FB & forums....months later the ParaGrafix one popped up & it doesn't have the 3 layers.....just 2 Maybe they copied styles of the Star Trek stuff,...but this was the only design I've seen with the 3 layer for Bandai J Edited September 2, 2016 by jaitea

Blastvader Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Also Paragraphix don't make an A Wing set (or a lot of the stuff that GS sell) so it's hard to see how they could have snaffled them. Could be just a bit of sour grapes as they've finally got some decent (and more reasonably priced) competition.
