JaseBlade
Apologies that these photos are nowhere near the standard of most on here, I only use a compact camera, but just wanted to share these from a great day out at RAF Leeming. Now a nice trip to Lakenheath and Mildenhall again to look forward to in a week or two Thanks for looking, Jason

Was that the case or just the angle the pic was taken?
JaseBlade
Stupid question but does the apaches horizontal tail fins move ?? I mean pic ive seen on the ground its drooping does it level out in flight ?? I'm afraid I don't really know much about the Apache, but from looking at other photos I would say it does move in flight. It was great to see the a-10s, Simon, it was a case of no movement with them for ages and then 4 going up at once which was well worth the wait. The resident hawks and other visitors made it a good busy day though. As for the first photo, I think it's just the angle it was taken from. The grass was that long in some parts that you could hardly see the a-10s behind it

phildagreek
Good shots, thanks for posting them. Good to see A10's in the UK again, maybe a return in the next couple of years for an air show before they all disappear, the shows & the jets! Tiger331
Just seen this……The A-10s are obviously the same ones that we have recently observed here in Estonia. For 'phildagreek' I think you can make a fairly safe bet that we will see the A-10Cs back in Europe again next year and, possibly, beyond although at some stage they will need to be replaced. The Warthog community have done all that they can to convince the 'high priced help' that they need to keep the A-10 and I think the scenario has changed from that of 2-3 years ago when the USAF A-10 community were staring over the abyss. Last year one of the A-10 units re-proved the 'austere' landing concept here in Estonia, utilizing a disused Soviet-era runway and this year they took it one stage further by using a section of a main highway close to the capital. Interestingly the A-10Cs that have visited this year, from Michingan ANG and the 303rd FS AFRC, were in reasonably good shape considering their age (35+ years) and how they are used; those that visited last year were looking distinctly tired in comparison so I think there will be a challenge over future fleet management but they need to sort out a viable replacement soon, given the lead-in times for R&D etc.
