AdrianMF
The pre-shading looks good. Those US Navy aircraft got faded and touched up again a lot. Regards, Adrian
The Spadgent
Wwwhhhoa we are painting our socks off. I say we as the the fumes are sending me bonkers. So any way on and off I have been a little bit mask happy. Let me explain. The masks came off the bottom half to leave a rather pleasing wobble. I used blue tack to give a fuzzy edge. Â The making came off the wing sections that had to be painted white. Â Then I had to mask off the yellow and red details. Â It was beginning to look Like " return of the mummy" I thought to my self why not just hand paint the details. But I'd gone to far now. Â Â Paint went on yellow first then red. I'm mixing like crazy as the codes are for humbrol and there don't seem to be any Airfix equivalents. Â She's beginning to look quite colourful isn't she. Peeling off the masking I realized exactly why I didn't hand paint the details. Those lines are sooo crisp. The ladder got a shot of red and the masking continued for the midnight blue, which I mixed with black to make it a tad darker. Â Â With the masking off it's all beginning to come together. Looks more like a space ship if you ask me. Â Â Oh a quick question. Remember the exhausts I made? Well I made little edges for them from a quiche tin. Â Now the question is, the back port of this kit looks not a lot like the real one. I think scratching a real one now is beyond my skills but I have done a quick representation that I think looks ok, but I'd like your opinion. So here goes. Without. Â Or with. Â The parts are blue tacked in place. But I kind of like with. Let me know your thoughts. I'm off to do a bit more spraying. Thanks for all your interest and remember folks. If you're not having fun, you're not doing it right. Johnny spray booth. Edited September 4, 2017 by The Spadgent

I'm glad you like the ports, I'll post how I made the top bits next post. It was cheese and onion by the way. Johnny soggy bottom.

The Spadgent
Thank you guys for all the kind words. I have been more stay building 1:1 scale desk, drawers and shelves for the kids bedrooms over this weeksend so the prowler hasn't had much of a look in but I did get some time tonight. although I'm so knackered I'm going to start again early tomorrow. Steady progress though. Having tested the decals for explosion I moved onto the weapons and landing gear hatches. Oh my there are lots and they needed re scribing. Â I have found a different method, it might not work for all but it's going well here. Basically instead of sanding then scribing, I use the raised line as a guide and very lightly scribe along, no dymo tape just a steady light hand, eventually giving it slightly more oomph. After your done you rub over with wet and dry to knock the ridge off. Sounds bonkers but it works. I guess these are the match stick that have to come off? So away with you evil swan vesta. Â It was a lovely light this morning catching some of the tanks and missiles. Â The bay doors need detail and without any ref of these I'm making an educated guess. Anything is better than flat nothingness. Â Here's the nose bay door. I had a slight glimpse of this one so I'm adding the little hinges. Â I still have one nose and two side gear doors to do but I wanted to prime something tonight so all the other stuff got a blast. Â The sanding and scribing looked good so I'm happy. More tomorrow morning. Thankyou all for your interest and hopefully you're finding this a fun build. Its certainly been a bit of a trial by fire. Oh by the way, don't tell the wife but I had a slight wallet malfunction the other day. Â This hobby is dangerous. Take it easy guys and Happy modelling. Johnny whirlybird . Howlindawg
I thought you had a mini U-Boat diorama coming along there for a minute. Nice haul for the stash there John. The Spadgent
Not quite the bench fest I had in mind today, but I did get some progress in between other distractions. The landing gear flaps got built, alas no photos. And we have more than one decal. Â That had to be cut out to the nth degree as I have learned that old Airfix decal printing is a bit squiffy. Â But at last we got a Playboy Rabbit. Â Well that's pretty much it. It's getting to the point were It's getting a bit, dare I say it. Finished. Hope you enjoyed my little post. Take it easy. TheBaron
Growling along nicely And what a splendid bout of scribing and scratching to come back to. That is looking seriously on the way to RFIsville now John. Just envying your recent purchases as I just bought a Whirlwind about an hour before reading this (Well, a Sikorksy that will become a Whirlwind in due course) but failed to acquire a Scout. Twice. Is there a Wasp conversion in your future or keeping it Strictly Army? Top work on that decalifying - that Big White C on the tail looked a tricky one with all that surface relief but it has 'relaxed' nicely around them curves. Bon chance mon ami.

The C was well a bit of a "C" if you catch my drift. but it turned out ok in the end. talking about the whirlybirds, I bought them from a guy in Ireland of E Bay all 3 for £30 not sure about the wasp but there is a rather snazzy red scheme on the back I want to have a go at. The Spadgent
I'll keep it short and sweet tonight as I needs my bed. I got all the bits and bobs pre shaded after I finished the final decals. Â Here are the scratch door internals, not too bad. Â And before my eyes fell out I added some brake wire to the landing gear just before I add the silver paint ready for weathering. Â That's yer lot. I wanted to get the top coat on so I can weather the hell out of her but she needs to dry her decals. Don't want to rush it now I'm on the final stretch. Hope you are still having fun. I know I am. More tomorrow with any luck. Take care y'all. The Waco Kid. " I shoot with this hand " Edited September 4, 2017 by The Spadgent
