The Spadgent
Seems like forever. Hasn't really, but it seems like it. I've had a launch party, a 60th birthday party and a bit of a reunion, made new furniture for both kids bedrooms and STILL found five minutes to make mistakes on the prowler. Let's get on with it shal we. First off all the weapons and tanks got their white coat. And the pilots got stuck on. Yay! ( forgive me I'm on. Sunday wine. ) I blasted a few things with Some Flory goodness to see how the land lay. Get ready for Bonkers idea number one. I had to fit the HUGE probe thing and the front canopy so off I go and decide to drill a hole for it to fit in, measure twice fit once. (Wrong) guess who got the hole in totally the wrong place. Undeterred I popped off the locating pin and glued it on in the right place. I have a filler for that!! And then painted, phew! Decals got put on the weapons. Love the little playboy rabbit on the fin. Flory wash got rubbed from the landing gear. Looks ok. Then I decide to get the pit together. See part " rp8"? Yeah that had gone walk about, I checked the carpet monster, checked the bench. Alas nothing. So I took the boys advice and built a new one. Looks the part but the fit will have to wait and see. I'm on Yorkshire pudding duty as of now so I have to fly. Hope you're enjoying the build. Happy modeling as always. Johnny Sunday. TheBaron
Great progress John but concerned that you have turned 60. You were such a young man when you started this build...

You were such a young man when you started this build...Not to worry, my 60s are well in the future. Although this is my longest build, I think it might be Tamiya in my near future. The Spadgent
Quick update tonight. Ready for a Flory wash I mixed up a nice batch of grime and black and smathered it on. Weapons and all. I need to let that dry before I go at it with my weapon of choice. Socks!! Reminiscent of the patient "Brown trouser" technique at this stage. Fingers crossed it all turns out well. Watch this space. Thanks for your interest in my muddy bird. Have fun and happy Modelling. Jont. bbudde
Oh, that looks rude. Did you sunk it into a dirty little pond? Anyway, this will look great after cleaning it, I'm sure. Cheers.
TheBaron
I just know that's going to look good when the socks come out. The only question is will it be Pringle or white sports ones?
TonyTiger66
Hi John, I'm glad I caught up before you finished. I hadn't jumped ship, just a little spell in hospital. This huge bird really has come along! Excellent masking and painting. One thing that really strikes me now is the good job you have made of rescribing this big beastie, it looks like it had recessed panel lines right OOB . I agree, it really does look like a spaceship! The flan base jet exhausts are fab, a lot more realistic Best regards Tony Edited: 'rescribing'

The only question is will it be Pringle or white sports ones? Thanks Tony. I'll try and get at it tonight, hopefully a nice clean white sock, if not I have one of the kids old white vests lined up. ( it gets More rediculus. ) Oh, that looks rude. Did you sunk it into a dirty little pond? Anyway, this will look great after cleaning it, I'm sure. Cheers. Still not quite finished, cockpit seats and parts, canopy spraying, (it's got to be clear apparently?) weapons on, wheels built and painte.......... so you see you can still sit in for the finale. I'm glad you're enjoying the build. Just got to get this ruddy wash off. Take care of yourself. Johnny mud bath

Martian
This model is looking beautiful! Will I never learn not to overlook a thread just because the subject doesn't appeal to me? I miss an awful lot of great builds that way. Martin

The Spadgent
Last night was my designated modelling night so I spent almost all of it a nervous Wreck! Following from Ceds experience building his Beaufort the other day I was knocking bits off left right and center, at one point I even punched the probe off the front. Twice! honestly all this while rubbing off mud and adding legs, missiles and tanks. Here goes. The flory came away and left a really nice result. I was really quite happy with the ladder stow, just need to get the ladder added at the end. I will add all the little bits and bobs and knock back a little more before the final top coat. I added two of the missiles after running them down and began work on the landing gear. Spot the school boy error, again! Yes that's right I've fitted the supporting brace thing on the wrong way around. Gah! Right off with it a quick 180 and we are back in action. The nose gear got added but needed considerable adjustment to fit the flaps ( pictured later ) More weapons and side gear flaps got added. She's starting to look rather busy under there. I toot Zero pics of the traumatic knocking off of parts but trust me it all happened. I finished last night with getting the wheels together. I can't even remember what step that was. I let everything dry and got some rest. Early this morning I got up and checked for stability she's up! No wheels as yet but solid on her legs. Tis GBBO night so no plastic alas. Nearly there though, cockpit to assemble and finish painting, wheels and canopy. Oooh exciting. thankyou for all your support and help during this mammoth build. As always guys, happy modelling. Johnny boy. Edited September 4, 2017 by The Spadgent

Especially when thinking the kit you used!I am building the Kinetic Prowler and i have found your build quite inspiring! Thanks for that! The pleasure is all mine, thanks for tagging along. I've actually been following your build as the seats looked a lot like the ones I have added. Although I think your office has a more healthier chance of fitting. great work btw. This model is looking beautiful! Will I never learn not to overlook a thread just because the subject doesn't appeal to me? I miss an awful lot of great builds that way Thanks Martin. I awl ways have a quick scan now and again. You never know what you might find. Ahem! "Flapjack" ahem. Martin Sometimes it can't be helped. There is soooo much here, and only so much time in the day. The Spadgent
Just before we head off on the last camping adventure of the summer I'll share last nights escapades. Not a great deal but I'm pleased none the less as things actually went my way. First off, I used a mule to practice the spraying of the clear yellow. A part of my meteor was used, the clear engine cover that was discarded during the build in favour of a solid cover. Seemed to work well so I continued with the actual canopy. They turned out really well in my opinion. Ooh just Gotta get my hair cut. More in a sec.... John. The Spadgent
Ok Barnet chopped. Sorry I was in the barbers waiting for a trim and posting on the prowler, who said men can't multi-task. The bits and bobs got added to the "office" including the scratch bit that holds the canopy strut at the front. Everything but the seats and some funky wires I want to add. The wheels got a hairy stick full of X2 off at em. And to finish off the ladder got a bit of detailing and wear. The whole thing got a top coat of clear flat and left to dry. As mentioned we are off in "Bob" (the caravan) tonight so nothing plastic this weekend. Just cheese and wine. Hope you all have a great weekend yourselves and keep the good end up. Take it easy you lot. Jonster. Edited September 4, 2017 by The Spadgent
