Question about Special Hobby Mirage F1 (1/72)

Hi all,

Have a question about the Special Hobby Mirage F1 in The One True Scale which looks like a great kit but I was wondering if the "simple set" allowed you to build a CT or CR version or simply the basic C. Looking to build a Gulf War unit as as far as I know these were CRs. The original Special Hobby promo pics suggested that all variants were going to be built but not sure if we'll have to wait for a specific CT/CR boxing to appear later on.

Thanks

The parts in the simple kit are exactly the same plastic parts that come with the Mirage F.1C but without extra resin or decals.

The plastic parts include the parts for an F.1CR and an F.1CT so whilst I'm sure there will be a dedicated F.1CT/CR boxing later on, whilst I'm no Mirage F.1 expert I'm confident you could make a CR from the simple kit.

I think the simple kits are exceptional value and I snap them up when the opportunity arises.

From what I see on pictures of the sprues, I'm not too sure about the basic C, but it seems ok for the C-200, CR or CT, one of their main feature being the guns.

Two DEFA for the C-200, one each for the CR and CT... but for each one on a different side!

Hello

I have both B and C boxes and there parts to make every type. But the CR or CT are due to be produced in the near future.

For the early C in the 1970s the Matra 530 missile is missing.

In fact, Mirage F1C-200 was involved in the Gulf War, they were stationed in Qatar for 'opération Méteil', particularly Mirages of 12e escadre from Cambrai. ;)

I think you can built a Mirage F1C, but you'll have to erase the oblique joint of the nose piece, which correponds to the added skin for the installation of IFR probe. At 1/72 scale, the difference of lenght isn't really revelant (1 mm).

For a Special Hobby's Mirage F1CR during the Gulf War, see this one !

I've been doing some research as I want to build one of my 'simple kits' as an F1CT. It seems most parts for the CT/CR are there.

The late (post-1992) CR/CT aircraft had the Matra Corail chaff/flare dispenser below the wingroot on both sides. This looks like a standard pylon, but I have yet to find a detailed picture of it. It is not included in the kit.

It also doesn't have the absurdly large centerline tank but two of the smaller tanks.

Hi, all,

Plastic is the same in all the boxings (and "no-boxings"!) so far.

The only thing it lacks for a proper F.1CR/CT in active operations is the "banana" shaped ventral tank.
