Robert Well that will kill the inflated prices on eBay for a while at least, just need Xtradecal or somebody to knock out some nice RN decals to go with it.
Uncle Dick
Now then the 1/72 MIG-25PD looks interesting - 98 parts in the kit according to the Hasegawa web site! ミグ25PD フォックスバット “ロシア空軍” スケール … 1:72品番 … 02213出荷時期…2016年09月15日本体価格 … 3400円(+消費税)パーツ数 … 98模型全長 … 307mm模型全幅 … 195mm Might this be a new tool??????????? as their old kit has around 53 parts? Or have I lost something in the translation...or is it a re-pop of someone else's kit?
MikeR
I know that Hasegawa have reboxed some of ICM's stuff, so the Mig-25 could be theirs? Mike.
Pollie
垂直尾翼ラダーをロシア国旗の三色で塗り分けたロシア空軍の「赤72」を再現。キットのパーツはICM社製をセットします。 This what the Hasegawa site says. I don't speak Japanese but it says 'ICM'....
Vultures1
Hmm, the provenance of that MiG-25 would be interesting ... not least as I am currently battling with a Condor P!!

The Hasegawa website confirms the plastic is of ICM origin, the decals and packaging will be all Hasegawa 😉

Ryan Hothersall
That's good hasegawa are reboxing a MiG-25PD kit and not dressing their MiG-25P kit up as a PD.

tonyot
Can anybody still afford Hasegawa kits in the UK anymore or justify the inflated prices that they command? Cheers Tony
Gundylunch
Someone said to me recently that Airfix are producing a 1/48 F-4 in the not too distant future, it was going to come out before a 1/48 Hunter but things have been swapped around and the Hunter will come 1st - now there's something to make most of us dribble !!
Albeback52
Can anybody still afford Hasegawa kits in the UK anymore or justify the inflated prices that they command? Cheers Tony Certainly food for thought Tony! I haven't bought any new Hasegawa kits in years. Priced themselves right out of my market. Second hand prices are usually a lot more reasonable. However, been a long time since they produced anything I really wanted so I guess it does not matter anyway. There will always be those who will attempt to justify the OTT prices but, are the UK prices the fault of the manufacturer or the importer? Certainly, you can save a fortune by ordering from abroad. Personal choice will dictate if you think the kits are worth the money. I do wonder though that if Hasegawa were (for example) to produce a 1/72 Spey Phantom kit priced at £50+ and, a 1/72 Vulcan B-2 at £100+ would all modellers craving such beasts swallow their pride and fork out the readies despite their whinges about pricing? I personally wouldn't but, that's just me. Allan Edited August 26, 2016 by Albeback52
Tbolt
Can anybody still afford Hasegawa kits in the UK anymore or justify the inflated prices that they command? Cheers Tony I guess they can, otherwise the price would have to drop to sell them. I've only bought one Hasegawa kit's in the last few years at full price, the rest when they were on sale, but I did stock up several years back when they were still a sensible price. If Hasegawa came out with a new tooled kit, that was a type I was really after and there wasn't any good competition out there (1/48th Hornet, MS.406, Spitfire Mk.XIV & Mk.XI, Beaufort, Yak-9, Welkin, P-47N , P-40F/L for example) then I would pay the price, as it's still cheap compared to other forms of entertainment (especially the speed I build at!) and people are willing to high prices for resin kit (which of course have high manufacturing prices) when there is no descent competition. Tbolt
Just seen the reissue of Hasegawa 1/72 X-29 is retailing at £44.99! At first I thought it must be two kits in the box, but it's not. The reissue of their 1/48th Draken is only £42.99, so what makes the X-29, which is quite a basic kit worth so much?
