PlaStix Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 (edited) Unknown unit - Berlin - April 1945 Kit: 1/72 Italeri Extras: Tow cable from twisted 0.2mm Lead wire, aerial from stretched sprue and stowage from a variety of other 1/72 figures sets. Paints: Humbrol, Revell, Railmatch and Citadel acrylics - all applied by brushWIP: Here This was my second build for the Great Patriotic War Group Build. This kit was in fact a gift from Sgt.Squarehead - so a big thank you to him! This is actually a very nice kit to build although there are a couple of places where there are no precise locations for joining parts which made it a bit tricky. Also the instructions for the tracks are not quite accurate but with a little careful thinking the tracks build up really well. The kit provides the top run of the tracks as straight sections but a distinctive feature of the originals was the sag between the return rollers - to create this I carefully bent the tracks to shape. These photos were taken on my Spitfire display shelf - I am going to make a proper base for it over in the Vignette GB - Here Just one in black and white: .....and some photos not on the display shelf to show more views from higher up - one to show the comparative size: Finally two just for fun - showing the 1/48 Tamiya version alongside this 1/72nd Italeri version: [The RFI for the Tamiya 1/48 version can be found here.] Thanks, as always, must go to everyone who contributed to my WIP thread either by offering support or advice. Comments and suggestions welcome. Kind regards, Stix Edited July 11, 2016 by PlaStix 20

Roman Schilhart Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Looks menacing and cool at the same time! I really like the brute appearance of Russian tanks. You did a great job on the tracks as well, I like the 'sagging' effect. 1
PlaStix Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 Beautiful build. Looks much bigger than its 1/72 scale. Andy Hi Andy and thank you very much. I think Italeri did really well with the details on this kit so that they stand out well under the paint. It doesn't always happen in 1/72. I have to agree with Andy the little one looks much better than the next scale up just could not believe it WA s that small a scale at first look Cracking job Beefy Hi Beefy and thank you very much too! Another lovely looking build Stix ... Hi Vince. That is very kind of you to say. Looks menacing and cool at the same time! I really like the brute appearance of Russian tanks. You did a great job on the tracks as well, I like the 'sagging' effect. Hi Roman and thank you very much as well. I agree - they have a great appearance these tanks. I must admit I was pleased I was able to replicate the sag despite it not being included by Italeri. The Tamiya kit has the sag moulded in so I was a bit disappointed to discover Italeri just provided straight sections for the top run. I had to be fairly careful but the Italeri plastic seemed quite forgiving. Brilliant paintwork for 1/72! Very nice! Hi Kuro and thank you as well for your kind comments. Thank you all for taking the time to comment. Kind regards, Stix
