Simon
If you Google Turbinlite Mosquito, rather than Turbinelight, there are a couple of useful images that come up on this page: http://www.vintagewings.ca/VintageNews/Stories/tabid/116/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/544/Blinded-by-the-Light-The-Turbinlite-Havoc.aspx The modification doesn't do much for the Mosquito aesthetically, does it..?! Junchan
The same photo in better quality appears on page 120 of Mosquito, a Pictorial History of the DH98 by Philip Birtle (ISBN 0 7106 0065 8) with a description as follows. Then unarmed Mosquito II W4087 was converted by Alan Muntz at Heston to have one of these curiosities in the nose , the work being completed by the end of 1941. This aircraft arrived at 151 Squadron for service trials on January 16, and was flown by a crew from 532 Squadron. On February 18 it was passed to 85 Squadron, who soon returned the aircraft, with an adverse report, to 1422 Flight at Heston. It appeared that whatever had extolled the virtues of such an installation had little practical experience of the problem involved. Regards Simon Simon thanks for that link, lots of images I hadn't seen before and you have helped me decide what will be getting added to the stash next...hello MPM Turbinlite Havoc Mk II. Might even pop my Tamiya cherry with a Mk II Mosquito given those pictures of W4087; nothing like uglifying one of the prettiest aircraft to ever fly using an expensive kit!
