robvulcan
I have been away ages now I have not touched a model for ages and all my projects are quite a commitment and as I have been so busy the past 12 months I wanted to just make something and complete it for a change whilst I start getting back to grips with the other models. My Mum found these two kits in a Charity shop so I thought I would make them for my Dad who really aint so well at the moment and he would like these to be displayed with The Stirling I made in November. I have just given them a quick mist over with Halfords Primer and I am just going to go simple on the interior as sod all will be seen at the end. One will be OOB the other I will source some different decals for from the spares box. I am hoping to get these done quite quick but we will see. I hope these don't become yet another slow build. robvulcan
Cheers folks. I'm hoping they won't take to long it's going to be the usual rattle can paint finish from me which should speed up things a bit. I might be lazy and buy some Eduard masks for these I used them for the first time on my Stirling and I was blown away with how good they are. Good to be back just been so busy with my Band and making life changes so modelling has had to take a back seat but man is it good to get back to it.
robvulcan
Worst interior effort ever from me here. I have got used to putting more time in on the insides lately but I am not bothering this time. Looking at my others not much will be seen. Half Arsed I know Getting there though

If someone confirms they're OK then PM me your address and I'll bung 'em in the post.

robvulcan
Sorry for the late reply cheers chaps I will "crack on" with these soon again hopefully not "cracking" anymore canopies. I found them a crazy tight fit over engineered or not engineered enough I cant decide. One is fitted I will gladly take the spare of you Ced Cheers Rob
Beard
The canopies on the Airfix Spitfire I are notoriously tight-fitting. If you haven't already worked it out for yourself, you'll need to scrape a fair amount off the back part. (Edited to correct spelling.) Well that’s ironic you used the word soon for the last post in 2016 since I got sidetracked. Its been a while ! , now it’s 2019 and I’m older greyer and still not sourced a canopy for the one of these. However lets try get one on its way for now. I found these old tins I wonder if they will still perform. cheers Rob

Many thanks Sidders that’s very kind of you cheers 8 minutes ago, Biggles87 said: Welcome back again, I’d forgotten about these John Many thanks John yep I’d forgot too after life got in the way but I thought let’s get that done. Well the ancient humbrol duck egg blue or beige green was in superb order and if anyone wanted proof paint tone changes with age you can see the same paint dried on the edges separated from from fresh paint in the tin for over a decade. Lighter fluid is my favourite thinner for enamels usually for brushing but also performed faultlessly in the airbrush and it also is an excellent cleaner too. now I need to pick a green to use. I picked up the new hu30 formulation so I’m curious what that is like. I also pickup up some hu86 as when I was a kid I used to use this a lot for a worn looking raf green from memory it’s a nice light green with a yellow/brown cast. Then there is the pheonix and wem colours. ill probably do the other spit in different colours for variance. Cheers Rob

Cheers, Mark Many thanks Sidders PM sent I was not happy with the stark sky colour so found an old tin of HU27 and thought I’d use that to do a very rough preshade with jsut to try and add some variance to the paint. My airbrush does not do thin well sadly. well not consistently a terrible least (shhh it’s probably me at fault...) I thought grey might be more subtle than black. Hopefully this might add some visual interest to this. I like the new tool spit the panel lines look a little Heavy but I guess even this one is not so new now.. where does the time go.
