Levin
I have recently ordered the Academy B-29 in 1/72 and I want to put it onto a base with some figures und vehicles. For the vehicles I intended to use this upcoming Airfix set (http://www.airfix.com/uk-en/shop/vehicles/military-vehicles/usaaf-8th-air-force-bomber-resupply-set-1-72.html) although, as i want to build either the Enola Gay or Bockscar, I can`t use the bomb truck, but are the other vehicles apropriate? Also: What figures could I use? I thought of the Airfix or Preiser kit. Do you have other suggestions? Thank you in advance Levin Edited July 3, 2016 by Levin
bobgpw
Hello Levin, The footage of Fat Man being taken to the bomb pit appears to show a Federal 94x43 tractor unit. I don't know if you can get a kit of that in 1/72 or 1/76. Alternatively, use the Autocar unit from the new Airfix USAAF set, it looks similar! Mancunian airman
I was quite surprised to learn that thee 'bomb' was lead into a shallow pit prior to loading in Enola Gay, it would certainly involve a difference set-up for displaying the aircraft before its fatal mission that August. Hook
Jeeps would seem rather ubiquitous as well. In addition, Academy makes a nice U.S. 2 1/2 Ton 6x6 Cargo Truck & Accessories set. Cheers, Andre Edited July 9, 2016 by Hook

Graham Boak
Avoid the Hasegawa: apart from being primitive their bonnet is very different from the WW2 truck. You could perhaps cross-kit from the bowser, but that original doesn't hold enough fuel for a B-29.
