TimMather
any chance we scifi guys could have a group build or buddy build?
Black Knight
Propose one, gather support. Get the minimum numbers and it will go into the voting in November. As a non-aeroplane GB it goes into the smaller, other things list and has more of a chance of winning through and taking place Single subject build calendar is full all of next year I think. Stu_davros
We had a sci-fi group build not long ago and the numbers of group builds are limited. As Sci-fi model building is something of a niche it's natural that there are less GB's around that area. However there is nothing to stop an informal buddy build, there is at least one in the civilian vehicles forum. Cheers, Stuart

Julien
why do aircraft guys only get group builds? They dont. Of the current 7 group builds only 3 are exclusively aircraft. As has been said there was a recent sci-fi one, and if another is proposed I am sure it would get support. Even this Aircraft modeller has a couple of Gundam kits in his stash. Wez
What tends to happen is somebody will think of an idea for a GB in their field of interest, sometimes it can be broadened out to be more inclusive. I'm predominantly an aircraft modeller but suggested and ran (with an awful lot of support from my co-host), the French Fancy GB which allowed anything made in France or used by the French, we had trucks, cars, F.1 cars, submarines, figures as well as aircraft (apologies for any other subject I've missed), so it is possible to get into some GB's. Often the proposer of a GB hasn't really given a thought to other genre's of modelling, not out of malice, just because it's not their field of interest. If you can make a case to broaden the scope of a GB they're often very willing to go with it simply because it's going to get more supporters. For instance, there's a current proposal for a Between the Wars GB (e.g. 1919-1939), it started off as a Between the Wars Aircraft but the proposer was willing to open it up to include all between the wars subjects, it has gained more supporters (not enough yet but there's plenty of time to gain more support), I'm sure an SF subject like the rocket-plane's from the original 1930's series of Flash Gordon for exampled would be welcomed. Maybe you could take a look at current proposals for GB's to see if they could be opened up to allow SF subjects (amongst other subjects). I'm sure you could find something which would fit in to the Small Screen/Big Screen proposal - plenty of SF subjects there! Alternatively, you could join the Mirage GB and make a model of a Belgian Mirage 5 in the Milky-Way markings... (shameless plug). Caerbannog
As others said - there was the SciFi 2 GB last year and the proposed big screen little screen will also work. To get the votes needed any GB should basically attrack as many people here as possible of course so the wider the range of allowed kits the better I should think. For example - a "Sea Quest" GB will have less chances than a "Star Wars" GB but even this might be not successful. So "Space" would include many SciFi and real space subjects for example (but exclude some SciFi kits). But of course it is easier for the aircraft people because there are way more subjects AND kits around. As the real space guys - there is zero chance for them to have an own GB I would say. Single Type Space Shuttle GB anyone? René

whitestar12chris
Tim heres a link for last years GB http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/forum/510-sci-fi-ii-group-build/ as stated why not sign up for the small screen/big screen GB, we have enough members signed up to take us to the vote for 2017 Sci-Fi is more than welcome, the scope is endless. All the best Chris
PhantomMajor
If you're desperate to get into a scifi build there is another site currently recruiting for one right now. Pm for info as you're not allowed to mention other sites on here
Blastvader
I proposed a Robots! GB earlier in the year. Check the sig. But looking at the interest that was shown, most of the entries would suit the 'Big screen, little screen GB' that's gathered more momentum as it's more inclusive.
