Looks pretty awesome. Panel lines look a little heavy, but a big airframe like this can take it. If only they copied Monogram and moulded a couple of hooks on the upper fuselage so you can easily hang it from the ceiling!

Question now is can I hang on long enough for the one I want (H), or will I buy the G as well... H'mmm

My memory must be wrotten, I don’t remember the hooks. I only remember looping thread around mine to hang from the ceiling.

They have molded some tiny loops on the wings and fuselage IIRC. I have the Young Astronauts box in the basement waiting for rescribing in the coming decades... The "loops" can be easily shaved off I would say. Maybe you did that and forgot about it. I also only remember them because I read about these in a magazine when the kit was released, and I found it funny that the author was so exhited about this feature 🙂

They seem happy to have solved the wing dihedral problem... but the nose ??? The radome still seem too much streamlined with the nose section, there does not appear to be some sort of break between the radome and nose.

I am a big fan of the BUFF but that nose will need a correction set: it does however not look so bad in these views:

However it's too rounded at the sides and just not pointy enough: the cockpit windows also look a bit strange, especially the centre windshield, which is too broad.

EDIT: my unscientific comparison (B-52H nose) doesn't look so bad from the side:

It doesn't look bad to me. Although, I would like to see it with the framing on the clear part painted because that big clear part really makes it look odd.

Great to see a D's on the cards.   Hope it's got some camo schemes.

The most obvious issue for me is the wing profile: the leading edge around the wing root is too rounded/not sharp enough.

That is not a good reference shot.  There are some light tricks going on there.  The wing roots are not “sharp” by any stretch...   http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA-Air-Force/Boeing-B-52H-Stratofortress/2054303?qsp=eJwtjDEKwkAQRe8ytUJUTJHOVHZaeIFh56PB6C4zA3EJubu70e799%2BHNFOLb8fFbTqCODKzhQRtKrPwy6mZ6Ik9RpTD12%2BP%2BXE6L6n0uQthxCgHJIX9/UYHWCxbWzr12d01l6PU3D22ZMlgaec3AeRhpWb5QtC4t

Engine pylons look like they need correcting as well, as the engines look as if they're level on the model. They point slightly upwards on the actual aircraft. The engine pylons themselves drop down too sharply as well.

Maybe it's the angle the model is sitting on the ground in relation to the camera?

Apologies for throwing that in the mix as I don't normally criticize models before I actually have them to hand!

Yes the lighting does exaggerate it quite a bit, I was just trying to illustrate my point :-) Surely the leading edge of the B-52 isn’t as sharp as a fighter, but that was not my point. Here is an other one with more diffuse lighting:

It's not sharp on the real thing by any scratch, but it still looks too blunted on the kit to me, Anyway, it still looks like a B-52 of course.

I think you’re right a little bit. The engines sit at 3° positive aoa where the wings sit at six. This is an order for the fuselage to have a level platform for bombing from high-altitude. The other thing you have to consider is these real pictures are of a B-52H with TF-33 engines.  The model is a G, which has J-57s.

Another thing to consider is that the display model is of a "G".  All of the real pictures in the thread are "H" models.  They have different wing roots as that was one of the modifications when going from G to H.  My bigger concern is not the "sharpness" of the leading edge but the transition to the fuselage.  On the H models, the wing more or less terminates into the fuselage where on the G, there is a fillet or transition that extends from the fuselage.  I can't post pics but any good overhead shot from google will clearly show the differences.   These model pictures kinda look like they have an H fuse/wing with G motors...

The wing to fuselage  transition was originally the same on B-52G and B-52H models.  When the B-52Gs were modified to carry Air Launched Cruise Missiles (ALCM) the wing root fairing or strakelet was added. This was part of the SALT II agreement of 1979 so that ALCM-armed B-52Gs could be visually identifed by Soviet satellites. The B-52Hs were not modified as it was known that they could all  carry ALCMs.

The test shot would appear to be a pre-ALCM B-52G.

Very much looking forward to this.

Let's hope that a new tool B-1 and B-2 is to follow...

They already released the B-2. I got mine a week before Valentines as gift from my beloved wife. In 2 months, they will release another with an extra sprue, the Massive Ordnance Penetrator (GBU-57A/B). They will also release the Bone, but still no date... Check it out:

From the boxart I can see short pylons under wings. Hope that more usual weapon confuguration like HSABs and some JDAMs or GBUs included. Just hope...

It would be nice, but it looks like it will be the usual AGM-86 ALCM, plus rotary launcher on the belly!

a brand known only for 1/72 armour decided to branch into aircraft......and chooses a 1/72 b-52 as its first subject....bonkers, but welcome and hope it lives up to the hype

Actually, to my knowledge, it will be their 2nd, 1st being the B-2, which is a superb model!

Assuming the kit will be available in the UK we can factor in VAT at 20% as well. Postage will be hefty on what will be a large and heavy model. To be honest, I don't think we will see this in the UK for much less than £90- £100. I may be wrong of course. That would be unaffordable on my budget but, this one I will get !! if I speak nicely to my partner & offer to pay half it may appear on her Crimbo shopping list!! . The Revell/Monogram D version is still a pretty good model despite its age and I would rather not have to tackle the AMT/Italeri kit!! .Be interesting to see how they tackle the characteristic wing droop of the B-52. Regardless of cost etc, this is a seriously overdue kit which I am delighted to see & I hope that they tackle the earlier versions as well - despite the size if the thing!!

Just bought mine for £69.95 plus £3.95 for postage! Go for it!

I saw the sprus at the IPMS USA national convention this week. The kits are due into the US in three weeks. They’ll  be handled by Kinetic North America. The engraving is heavy, but it looks ok.  Two really big mistakes are that they are using Aces II ejection seats and the B-52 has proprietary Boeing seats. They also include Tomahawks (along with the ALCMs) that were never flown on this airplane. Everything else is well represented but not exact, I think the kit looks good .  They had a $90 show special so I’ll be grabbing one when the container ship hits port...
