I've now added the inner 'lip' to the cockpit which will eventually be body colour. Also started making the dash panel which on this car is also the firewall. A fiddly bit of template making as well as head scratching, trying to work out whether to fix the panel to the floor as in the real cars, or to the inside upper body which will enable me to remove the body at a later date if needs be. Still puzzling that one. Whatever, the dash will need to be made completely before fitting. Lots of resin parts cast now - wheels, brake parts, engine bits etc. The main engine pieces have been cleaned up and painted, some bits assembled. roymattblack Posted September 29, 2016 Author Share Posted September 29, 2016 I cast my own tyres in resin. I also flatten the bottom of each tyre on a bench sander so they sit better at the end. I've started mixing up the bits from the C Type build, and the Lister. Not only that, but I've got a screaming urge to build a little OOB 1/32 or 1/24 car kit for a bit of 'relaxation'... ...and the box under the Lister body is stuffed with the Shelby Mustang partwork that is yelling 'start me - start me'... I've started on the dash-panel - incredibly simple so it shouldn't be too much bother. I've made so many flippin' little relays and fuse boxes over the last few builds that this time I've moulded and cast them so I can churn out more in the future. The rear discs and calipers are in although as this area really is almost invisible at the end, I've simplified it a bit... On we go. roymattblack Posted October 11, 2016 Author Share Posted October 11, 2016 Thanks chaps. Lister very kindly gave me the paint code which as it happens, is 1965 MGB light racing green. I had it mixed at 'Cars' in Ipswich. It was £15 a can, but it's actually genuine cellulose. 'Old school' paint. It went on a treat over Halfords grey primer and dried as you see it. The rear half of the body is now also painted, so dash installed next and then some cockpit fittings. I've just loosely placed the panels together to get a look at the size. I just love the 'workshop' look of a car in pieces. I've tentatively fitted the floor/chassis very loosely and once the engine is in, that's where I'm tempted to leave it.
