PlaStix
Not a lot, sadly. The main thing is Photobucket is such a chore! That is a shame. I used to use Photobucket but I found it terrible. I switched to Flickr which I have found to be much better. It does have the odd issue but generally seems a lot more reliable and easy to use.
Mitch K
Made a bit of progress. Most of the clothing is done: base, shade and highlighted in layers. The singlets need finishing and I want to highlight the belts, then it's fleshworks! I'm not sure how well the contrast shows up on these. I think that between the two photos most things can be picked out.
-Neu-
Wow mitch, that's really coming together. I really like the zvezda figures... I've built a couple of different sets over the past year and they all come together great, with fantastic poses. This one looks no different, though I'm sure you'd be able to make a dog's breakfast look good.

PlaStix
HI Mitch. Have you had chance to do any more on your project? The painting on the figures was looking great. Kind regards, Stix
Mitch K
Bit of progress. I've finished all the clothing (shade and highlights done), base coat colour on the hair, and I've put the next layer of flesh tone. This is the "base" colour, the Beige Red giving the shade in the darker areas. The only bit I will shade more deeply might be around the eyes. Highlights on the flesh and hair are next, and details to finish.

PlaStix
Hi Mitch. I'm just trying to catch up with everyone's projects and was wondering if there has been any more progress on yours? Kind regards, Stix
Mitch K
The progress on this has been sporadic - I've been trying to push the Great Patriotic War builds, which have a shorter deadline. I've added some shade and highlights to the hair, and shading on the white vests, plus a bit of trimming up around some rough edges. I've tried to do a bit of a "how-to" with these pictures, showing how I've done the eyes. First, the white is done in a very pale grey - pure white is too much in this scale. I put this in quite large, then trim back. Next I do the irises in a dark blue/grey/brown. Finally trim the eye to size with a dark flesh shade. I've added eyebrows, a touch of highlight on the upper eyelid and the basic mouth colour. This one, I'm calling done - apart from the jerrycan of course! I hope I've captured the look of a man sick of schlepping cans across fields in all weathers.
PlaStix
Hi Mitch. They are looking very good and thank you for posting the step-by-step presentation. Very useful. Kind regards, Stix
Mitch K
Here's the figures, more of less done. The middle figure with the jerrycan was the first one done. I'm quite please with how the faces have come out: the sour look on the bloke second from the left, rolling the oil drum, and the guy thoughtfully searching for the right tool. The guy on the left needs the least little bit of work, as I have to sort out the shoulder when I join him to the trolley so it looks like he's actually pulling the thing! Here's the base and the bomb trolley, with the base given some colours for the terrain. The trolley and other bits got an oil wash and a drybrush, followed by a coat or two of matt. Then, it was on with the static grass. Nearly done now!

Andrew Thank you! The next step was to fit the bomb-puller: he's heaving 250kg of bomb, plus the trolley, so he needs to look like he's well and truly attached to the handle! This was accomplished by fitting him to the base and only then fitting the arm and towbar, then painting the shoulder in situ. At this point the rest of the figures were placed. The important bit is to make sure the hands of the figures make full, firm contact with what they are lifting/carrying/pushing. CA glue is your friend here. The least little bit of matt varnish to cover the shiny smears of CA and it's job done! I'll put some photos in the Gallery later this afternoon!
CliffB
Mitch, I'm speechless. I just don't know how you paint such beautiful figures in 1/72 Cliff

Part of it is from wargaming - some gamers' figures literally are works of art. I'm nowhere near that level, but the example serves as a driver.
