alpine_modeller
Hi, I tried to find some info on the BBMF website, but come up blank. Anyone know why Thumper isnt showing up at any of the expected dates this summer ? I thought the engine fire was long fixed. Thanks

alpine_modeller
Ah, thanks. Do you know if this is expected to keep her grounded for all of this years flying season ?
Vickers McFunbus
You mean "City of Lincoln"? It's hope to be airborne again soon - certainly not for the whole season.
Ascoteer
I was of the understanding that it should be ready for an airtest early next month.

Max Headroom
It is also swapping tailplane components with a static Canadian example for the 2018 season as its own are becoming time expired. Trevor
Ascoteer
I think youl find it's the rudders and not the tailplanes.
Max Headroom
So, it'll be flying as a Mk.III with Merlins of indeterminate mark, mainspars adapted from those meant for a Shackleton, a Lincoln tailwheel, mid upper from an Argentine Lancaster, Lincoln undercarriage and swapping Lincoln rudders for those from a Mk.X Lancaster! Still looks good though! Trevor
Ascoteer
One imagines that the reduction in rudder area will result in a concomitant reduction in the aircraft's crosswind limit.
Simon Cornes
I think youl find it's the rudders and not the tailplanes. No, in this months Aeroplane it shows a photo of the tailplane which has been removed from FM212 as PA474's unit is amost time expired - although you would think it a relatively straighforward task for those chappies at Brough or similar to knock up a new one. I expect its the usual matter of getting the correct spar material and the Canadian unit has already been renovated to flight capable status. Simon PS. Does anyone know if the B-29 (the subject of this thread) has committed aviation yet?
