Martian
It will be somewhat ironic if, as seems entirely possible, this ends up looking better than the Airfix Victor! Martian

I recently completed this kit, converting it to B.2 standard with the Flightpath and Freightdog (?) conversions. Nowhere near your standard, but still took many many hours of work to get anything half decent out of it.... Very impressive build Devilfish, it looks very sleek in the all over white and without the wing tanks and pods. Cheers gazza l

gazza l
Hi everyone, just a couple of photos this evening. I've actually sprayed some colour now. I started spraying using Alclad white primer, this was applied in a very patchy manner which will act as a pre-shade. After a rub down with Micromesh it was on with the top coat, I used Halfords Appliance white for this. I will give this a couple of days to harden off before I start masking for the upper camo colours. Only just fits in my spray booth! Thanks for looking, gazza l
gazza l
Hi all, On with the painting. This begins with a mammoth masking session, the intakes in particular were a nightmare to mask Then I pre-shaded with Alclad black gloss Followed by a coat of Xtracolor medium sea grey, which sprays on super glossy the only downside is it takes days to fully dry. Whilst the grey is hardening off it will give me a chance to finish of all the little bits and pieces. Cheers, gazza l
Martian
Its looking good Gazza, although all that masking has confirmed t me that my Victor will be in anti-flash white! Martian
Darth Vader
I've a feeling this is going to be the best Victor on BM. You chose the best scheme as well .Very well done Sir to get this far on the world's most challenging kit ,can't wait to see it finished.

Martian That's cheating Martian but it is the easier option. Thanks very much everyone for your kind words, I hope to get this finished in the next few weeks, I can't wait to start something new and OOB! The grey has almost hardened of now so I can get on with yet more masking this time for the green camo. gazza l
Martian
Not cheating at all. Ever since I was frightened to death by the noise of a Vulcan at an RAF Abingdon Battle of Britain display when was four years old, V bombers have all be white in Martian World. gazza l
Good evening, Now that the Xtracolor grey has finally hardened off I can get on with the masking for the green. For this I used my favourite method of Blu-tack sausages infilled with Tamiya tape. Pre-shaded again with Alclad gloss black, this time going quite heavy in an attempt to darken the green topcoat. Then on with the Xtracolor dark green... the greens tend to dry quicker than the greys for some reason. While the green paint dries I worked on the undercarriage. Photo etch added and the assemblies painted with Alclad Aluminium followed by an oil wash. The two pins are for the oleos, these are made from sections of stainless steel welding rods and give an appearance of chrome plated shocks. Then finally the resin wheels were super glued on. Once the wheels had cured I carefully rubbed them on a sheet of wet wet'n'dry to ensure all the tyres will sit flat on the ground. Navy Bird
Can't wait for the masking tape and blu-tack to come off! It's going to look great. Cheers, Bill

gazza l
Thanks chaps, please try and control yourselves! The green has dried nicely overnight so I'll remove the masks this evening, if I get time I'll post a few pictures. cheers, gazza l

gazza l
Ok chaps the waiting is over, all of the masking is off. She didn't turn out too bad, I just need to touch up a few areas of overspray/underspray. The intakes were a bit of a disaster though, the masking tape has pulled of large areas of the white paint right back to the resin... I think I'm going to make use of those photo-etch FOD covers. gazza l

cngaero
Wow. You've done a brilliant job with the masking and painting on this. It's one of the neatest finishes I've seen on the old Victor.
