AFV weathered edging

What's the best way to get that weathered/worn effect on AFVs on the edges where two panels meet? A sort of dull metallic effect along the edge.

You mean chipping? As in chipped paint? There's a few methods, either with a sponge or a brush or both! Try searching YouTube for chipping on AFV models, the Mig Jimminez videos are my personal favourite!

Use graphite from a pencil, once applied you can use your finger tip to polish it.

No I don't mean the chipping, it's more of a long 'smooth' weathered appearance.

I like the pencil idea. Do you just roll the pencil along the seams on both sides? Are there any specific grades (HB etc) of graphite to use?

You could try drybrushing

I use a big flat brush (about 5 cm)

But I normally don't do it with metallic paint but with the lightened up base color, but i could imagine it would work out too.
