Anything by Tamiya!!

I'll caveat that by saying the newer tool ones are the better ones, although the older ones are still nice!

I started out in 1/35 with the Cromwell, great kit. The matilda is equally nice. If you want something modern, try the Challenger 1 or 2.

Be careful though, you'll soon be hooked!!

Most Tamiya & Academy kits are easy builds. And as the guys have said, even the older ones are worth making.

The Panzer II from Tamiya is 40 odd years old, but it still comes out well.

You can usually pick it up for £10 if you've got a Hobbycraft near you.

Tamiya. Old or new. If you are just starting out, the older kits can be bought for cheap and build up into a decent model. I would say older Italeri too, but, the tracks in their armour kits are just terrible.

+1 for Tamiya.

Any reason you specify 1/35? There are other scales out their as well, and some subjects are only available in smaller scales ( Airfix Op Herrick, I'm looking at you)

Nice Avatar by the way, any reason for picking the Tin Triangle?

Tamiya 1/35 Hanomag 251 is a good start off kit. It's cheap as chips to buy and very easy to build. It also comes with five soldiers as part of the kit, giving you the opportunity to cut your modelling teeth on figures as well.
