Tamiya 1: 35 Brachiosaurus Diorama set

Recommended Posts

Okay, I admit it I'm getting hooked on Dinosaurs, we came across this kit on Friday in Birmingham and I couldn't resist it... my last build is here:

I've decided to postpone the Skoda Turtle until I can do the paint job justice...

Mr Stix still can't get over the size of the kit box:

Blimey Mrs.S.....That really is a very, very large model! :analintruder:

Great to actually see one of these being built.....The orrible Archaeopteryx is in their Jurassic creatures set too, only in that set it's bright green!

Hi Mrs P!

It's great to see you starting a new build and this one looks extremely interesting! I don't know if I mentioned it before but when I was in primary school I wanted to become a naturalist, Darwin was my hero and I loved paleontology, especially dinosaurs, of course :)

Looking forward to seeing this dio done!

Cheers

Hi Jaime,

I think there's something about Dinos that appeals to people as they are so different and the evidence that remains is so teasing and there to be discovered...

I grew up in the countryside and used to spend hours looking at birds, plants, streams and wildlife. Hopefully I can do the diorama to a reasonable standard.

Wow, you don't hang about, do you?

Well, once I get an idea...

I hope Topsy doesn't get jealous.

I think she's going to be christened later... She's just happy I'm doing another herbivore!!!

Oh, you have fallen for dinos in a BIG way. I can't wait to see what you do with this beauty.

Greg in OK

Well I couldn't resist... when I saw it I just had to have it, even if the box was enormous. ;) I have absolutely no idea where it will be displayed though!

It will be interesting to see how you deal with Brenda's feathers. Will you be scratchbuilding them or using etch? Brachiosaurus did have feathers, didn't they?

Scratch built of course, where is Christian when you need him? I think the only feathers are going to be on the Archaeopteryx!! :hmmm::rolleyes::D

Hmm, never noticed that the kit came with a human.

Does he have feathers?

There is a current hypothesis that they did you know...

Oh and Bethany...def'nitly Bethany....

Here we go again, nope no feathers, - but anything's possible! He has got binoculars though!

Love the name "Bethany the Brachiosaurus" btw

Brenda, Bethany, Britney and now Nessie..."Trixie Topsy McTubby" will have new friends... Speaking of which I started the kit on Sunday with what I thought was going to be the easy bit - Brachiosaurus 'Junior', I thought only 2 parts, Tamiya kit - piece of cake.... well no! the two halves did not want to fit, so copious amounts of glue and masking tape were required.

The mould seams are very visible as well, so lots of filing and sanding needed.Anyway it felt good to actually get started!
