johnnyboy
I normally paint plastic figures but I have been given some of the Stadden Collection figures, As the title of this thread I have a full collection of acrylic paints but I am not sure what base coat to use on these metal figures? Any help John
giemme
I normally use Vallejo Grey Primer as base coat for my metal figures, but: I first wash them with a slightly acid solution (water plus some drops of white vinagre), then thoroughly clean with a brass brush. I sometimes also used a grey enamel as a base coat. HTH

johnnyboy
Thanks for the reply's guys. I will give Vallejo Grey Primer a go. Just watched a MXpression DVD of Oliver Kovacs work painting figures, now if only I could produce his skill by 50% I will be more than happy. Badder
Is it just me, or is there a little 'bug' crawling around the pages on this topic?
Red five
Alclad grey or white primer. Tougher than or Humbrol and can be polished and smoothed easily unlike Vallejo Andrew.
Dads203
Vallejo is a real pig to feather out if you have to fix something with the primer coat so I agree with Andrew below. I use Halfords grey primer for large areas and Tamiya extra grey for resin figures. Alclad grey or white primer. Tougher than or Humbrol and can be polished and smoothed easily unlike VallejoAndrew.
