Cavalier P-51D Mustang - Salwador 1969 Soccer War 1/48

Recommended Posts

ICM Model plus some goods and scratch to Cavalier. Aztec decals.
Camo - 100-hour war between Salvador and Honduras on the border areas, also known thanks to Ryszard Kapuściński as the Football War.
Aircraft on both sides remember IWW. Often the conflict is referred to the last battle of piston aircraft.
El Salvador gained Cavaliers to quickly and from what I read it flew them American mercenaries.
On delivery all had wingtip tanks , in the operation have been removed to improve maneuverability.
I invite you.

Too bad I can't see the images while at work (they are blocked). However, I took notice of your mercenary comment. Please try to read up about the 100 Hour War (sometimes referred to as the Football War as some believe it is what lit the match). Note that the 100 Hour War may also refer to Operation Desert Storm in 1991.

Two excellent books by Dan Hagedorn go into detail on the aircraft's involvement and the air war itself.

Regards,

Hi, all these facts I know, but first for me - "soccer war" is not a pejorative and well defines the flash point of this war.

As for the mercenaries - I'm not sure why I wrote, "and from what I read" - multiple sources that gives.

The books are written with insight of people who were there.

Hi, thx for feedback.

About wing tanks, they are from f5u hasegawa, little bit shortened and sanding for shape.

Large rudder it's just a manual extension (from plastic plate)

Sorry for my ignorance, but what it is F5U? I know only for XF5U Pancake, but not sure that she had a ex.tanks!? Did You mean F4U-5, or...? I am interesting because planning to do same one and also ICM kit.

Sorry, something mixed me letters - tanks are from F4U-5 of course.
