PlaStix Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 (edited) Mk.Vb Supermarine Spitfire EN821 from No. 243 Squadron, Fighter Command Kit: 1/72 Tamiya (No.56) Extras: Eduard Photo-etch Zoom Set SS213 and EZ LIne Paints: Humbrol, Revell and Citadel acrylics all applied by brush WIP: Here This Spitfire was built as part of the Edgar Brooks Tribute - Single Type Group Build. It was a thoroughly enjoyable build in a great GB. This kit was superb to make and, although the PE was a lot more fiddly in this scale, it does really add to the overall look of the cockpit. The kit doesn't come with an open canopy section so I had to do some careful work with an Exacto Saw! Photographs taken, as usual, on my Spitfire display base: One from below: ......and one from above: A while back I built the 1/48 Tamiya version of this kit so I took a few photos of the two of the together: 23/05/16 - Some black and white versions: Comments and Suggestions welcome. Kind regards, Stix 'For Edgar' Edited May 23, 2016 by PlaStix 27
giemme Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Outstanding build, I'll repeat what I said a dozen times along the WIP thread: it looks at least 1/48. In fact, if it weren't for the pictures with her bigger sister, I still wouldn't believe she's in 1/72! Ciao 2

rob85 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Stunning work stix, seeing the two together really demonstrates how well you have done to match the quality and detail of the 1/48 kit in 1/72! Rob 1
Mr Modeller Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Excellent work Stix and so lifelike in such a small scale!! It is very hard to tell the difference between the two scales in your 'side-by-side' photos and I would have totally believed you if you'd said it was 1:48 from the beginning?! I can't believe that - very well done indeed!! :tasty: This inspires me to crack on and get some more done to my Tamiya 1:32 Spitfire Mk. IXc which has been stalled for a little while!! Kev 1

I've just been checking out your Spitfire build and WOW! - you should definitely get it back underway again - it was looking phenomenal when last seen. Kind regards, Stix Hello Stix, No worries, I fully intend to get back on it in the very near future, as I finally have some reference material to work with on the firewall details, which was holding my progress up somewhat? Thanks to the generosity of the members on this fantastic forum however, that block has now finally been removed, so it's full steam ahead - just as soon as I can find some modelling time!! Thanks for the nice comments about my work Stix, greatly appreciated!! Watch this space!! Kev Edited May 19, 2016 by Mr Modeller 1
