Brian, Bandai call them both box scale so they have no official scale. The x-wing is about 1:145, not sure about the star destroyer but its about 10cm long!

Well guess what arrived in the post today... yep that's right a bill from BT lol

seriously though my 2 Star destroyer kits have arrived and i have quickly taken some pictures of them before i go back to bed.... the joys of working the night-shift.

Bandai have done a lot to reduce waste and packaging, for example all the sprues are in one clear plastic bag and the assembly instructions are printed on the inside of the box itself! There are four light grey coloured sprues and one black one which makes up the stand to support the finished kit on. two of the main sprues have the upper and lower hulls on them with one or two small pieces while the remaining two have upper hull and detailed sections including the side walls.

oh and for those of you are wondering, no you do not get a free tape measure as well, that was put into the shot to give some scale reference:

as far as i know i am the first person in the UK to post images of this kit here or possibly online, so i hope you find them of use.

Mine was just delivered too (well, I say delivered; left on the doorstep in the rain is more accurate). I guess they've all come over together from Japan in the same shipment.

I'll add a few more photos to Phantom's to show some of the lovely detail Bandai have put in

Mine were left in the greenhouse, out of the rain.

Will be looking at a lighting kit, engines no problem just need to think about the interior lighting. Seen it done by recasting some of the parts in clear resin.

Now, that's the kind irresponsible thing you shouldn't do to me....

Man, you ain't kidding, they are really cheap! Luckily (or unluckily) for me I've ordered twice from aboard and been hit by customs/RM charges both times. Although it falls under the £15 mark I ain't taking the chance... for the moment.

Mind you, that's only led to me looking at a small Revell Falcon with a mind to converting it. I wish I hadn't spotted this thread now ... :wall:

hi mate,

first of all, two of these kits fall below the rate that you are taxed for importing kits...it is something ridiculous like £36 or over gets taxed.

secondly, you can reduce the rate of tax you pay!

get the person sending to write on the external shipping notice: TAX CODE; 9503003500

THIS MEANS ITS REGISTERED AS A TOY AND YOU PAY LESS TAX!

something like 4% instead of 20% standard VAT

now everyone write that FRAKKIN DOWN NOW!

you will still get a handling fee as well but you can save money on the tax aspect of it.

I'm not even going to attempt to compete with Andy's excellent build thread for the ISD but just as a teaser here the docking bay all lit up!.

I'm afraid that's not correct. You still have to pay 20% VAT, but you then have to pay 4.7% additional import duty *on top of that*. That's on top of the shipment cost, product cost and VAT.

Duty is waived though if the total import value is under £135, but you will still need to pay 20% VAT if it's over £15.

If the item is under £15, then VAT and duty will be waived, unless the items are gifts, in which case the threshold is £34, but that only works if the sender is an individual, not a company. Of course, they do need to believe that it's a gift.
