Silver Fox
Here is my attempt at the new Airfix Defiant. This has to be the best fitting Airfix kit I have built and I've been building them since 1960! I used some Xtradecals codes and serials to make a 141 Squadron machine but other than that it is out of the box. N1564 was a very new machine when 141 were withdrawn so i kept the weathing subtle but it is too subtle for the photos taking in the beautiful South Yorkshire sunshine.Great work by Airfix, so all mistakes and omissions are mine. The only real problem was that there didn't seem any space for the open doors to slide between the turret and the fairing but thats probably my fault. Thanks for looking.

brewerjerry
Hi Awesome defiant Personally I always like a model with very little weathering and panel lines that can hardly be seen cheers jerry

Spitfire31
A very presentable Defiant! It's interesting to note how the unloved (by kit manufacturers) Defiant has become fashionable, with another 1:48th kit now coming from Airfix. And it seems that in parallel the aircraft itself has been reevaluated. Nice model of a frequently misunderstood machine! Kind regards, Joachim
galgos
A lovely clean build Andy, with some subtle weathering that is discernible! I've been trying to get one of these for a friend in America but it seems right now they're rarer than hen's teeth.....gotta be good news for Airfix though. Max Yes, I tried to buy another one but to no avail. I think even Airfix have been caught out by its popularity. Thank you folks for the kind words regarding the model. I have to say it was an absolute joy to build.

DaveCromie
That is gorgeous! I seem to be drifting over to 1/48 thanks first to Eduard's legendary Hellcats and later Merlin engined Spitfires but Airfix are really pulling me over with their earlier Spitfires, Hurricanes, Defiants and a P-40 on the way to! Back on topic, your Defiant looks stunning, fabulous work DC
Pete M.
Hi Andy. Nice clean job sir. One blemish though, looks like the sliding canopy got it's knickers a bit twisted? I've got one in my stash to build sometime! Cheers, Pete M.
Silver Fox
Good spot Pete, I'd not noticed . Must get that sorted before I take it to the Rotherham meeting.

Thank you folks for the kind words regarding the model. I have to say it was an absolute joy to build. Since the Defiant has been such a good seller, perhaps Airfix might consider a new "line" of aircraft models titled "failed aircraft of WW2" and include a Fairey Battle!
