Basilisk
When: 29 April 2017 to 10 September 2017 Host: Basilisk After the discussions in the "Made in Britain II" post, I stick out my neck and suggest a Made in Russia GB. I hope the title of this post is appropriate for a British forum As I learned (thanks vppelt68) that the Ukraine is a major manufacturer of AFV, I thought it is appropriate to change the rules. Well, the rules are simple, everything is acceptable which is/was build/t where Russia as a country currently is and which isn't fictional. Well, the rules are simple, everything is acceptable which is/was build/t in countries which was later or previously part of the former Soviet Union and which isn't fictional. In other words, any civil and military hardware which was ever built in any of the countries shown on the map below is acceptable. What is not acceptable are Soviet/Russian equipment produced under license outside the region shown above, like Hindustan produced MiG-21 or Chinese Shenjang F-7 as example. Tons of choices to model in any scale and any medium from sea to air! Cheers, Peter Takers: 1. Basilisk (Host) 2. Giorgio N 3. vppelt68 4. CliffB 5. Arniec 6. PlaStix 7. Shermaniac 8. Radleigh 9. Giorgio N
With Russia (and the Soviet Union) having been the world largest manufacturer of military hardware for decades, I'd say that a dedicated GB is a great idea. Plenty of subjects of different types and from different eras. Please count me in
Basilisk
Great, already a taker - better start a list. With Russia (and the Soviet Union) having been the world largest manufacturer of military hardware for decades, I'd say that a dedicated GB is a great idea. Plenty of subjects of different types and from different eras. Please count me in Indeed, but there is an exception I am aware of. Antonov moved in 1952 from Novosibirsk to Kiev and as Kiev isn't in today's Russia, Antonov aircraft are unfortunately not allowed in this GB if produced after 1952. There could be others, but my knowledge other than aviation is non exist in this regards. Cheers, Peter PS. Antonov is now in! See first post. vppelt68
Peter, if you´re really limiting this to geographic borders of Russia today (er... today not Today), then a lot of great AFV stuff like the T-64 and T-80 will also be ruled out for the same reasons. This is like proposing a WW2 German GB and not allowing Messerschmitt 109:s and PzKpfw IV:s built in Austria to be included in it. Anyway, it´s your GB and do what you want with it :-) Best regards, V-P P.S. Count me in too! Edited April 28, 2016 by vppelt68

In addition, it will get rather complicated to govern what is allowed and what not, so I think a change is in place to include all countries which had been part of the former Soviet Union. I will change the first post accordingly. CliffB, glad you can join. Cheers, Peter

Learstang
Absolutely, add me! To say I have a few unbuilt Soviet aeroplane kits is quite an understatement. Why with what I know about Soviet aircraft, I could write books about them! Oh wait, I have!* Best Regards, Jason *Shameless Self-Promotion - I have a book on the Lavochkin Fighters of the Second World War coming out in a few months, as well as a book on the Il-2 Shturmovik ('Il-2 Shturmovik: Red Avenger') which has already been published. If anyone needs help on their Il-2 or Lavochkin (LaGG-3, La-5, La-7) kits, just let me know.

Boy am I glad to have someone on board who knows something about Soviet WWII Aviation as my knowledge is a bit basic. Looking forward to hear when your books had been published - hopefully before this GB in case it goes ahead.
