SUB-SAM
Hi, I have recently tried using Vallejo Decal medium and Decal fix. I have found conflicting advise as to how to use them, some people are painting on Decal fix, then decal and the medium on top and others are doing the complete opposite. Decal medium clearly softens and decal fix clearly acts like some sort of adhesive but I can't see an ideal way of using them to stop silvering. In my experiments any combination of their use seemed to produce poor effects or risk of decal fragmentation if you use the decal medium first. Does anyone have experience with using these products? Am I better off purchasing an alternative product such as microsol/microset ? I should add that I made sure the paint surface was gloss varnished prior to application. Thank you in advance for any help Sam Edited April 25, 2016 by SUB-SAM
Jusjay
Are you talking about humbrol decalfix? If so, I rarely brush it on first and just brush it on the decal once applied and it seemed to work on my most recent build. Only issue with decalfix i found is it'll strip acrylic paint easily if there is no gloss or varnish over the top. Hope this helps somewhat, but i have limited knowledge to add I'm afraid! I have heard good things about micro sol etc.
