Aviano
Ok, my Strike Eagle is finished, time for my favorite Aircraft, the F-14! The Eduard kit is excellent, probably the best one i had ever in my hands! Pics will follow soon! Cheers, Oliver.
Texan76
Can't wait! I've got this in the stash, I want to build it, but it keeps intimidating me! Hopefully you can change my mind. Watching with interest.
The Crusty one
Got this in the stash too but as I'm generally a WW2 aircraft builder,I'm gonna pull up a chair and pick up any tips on building things without propellers!!😃
Aviano
Hello Texan76 & Crustydude, thank you for the comments! Also to me, this kit is intimidating! Really complex to build. There is no meaningful building thread in the web, but the review here in BM shows that the HB F-14a is first class! Yesterday i started with the cockpit and the first PE went on. Decided to build the 162702 VF-84 Jolly Rogers, USS Theodore Roosevelt. Oliver
snapper_city
Looking forward to this. I also have it in the stash but no room for it when finished currently. Hopefully in the next couple of years.
Aviano
Hi snapper, looks like many of us have this kit and now one will be the first to build it..... Indeed it´s really complex, will post the first pics of the cockpit later. Oliver
snapper_city
Looking forward to seeing it come together. Unfortunately I currently live in a small place but we are hoping to move in the next year or two. Our next place will be bigger with better modelling opportunities. I have already told the wife I will be building a few of my bigger kits that I currently have little room for. Great choice on the decal scheme.
Aviano
Also my problem, many kits to build but no place.....
snapper_city
I'm just sticking to the smaller builds at the moment. Plenty to choose from in the stash.
helios16v
Love the Kitty. I almost picked up a 1/48th Hasegawa Tomcat (1/48) at a model show this weekend for $20.....but I resisted. Only because I don't know what I would do w/ 3 1/48 Tomcats (likely picking up an A & D when AMK releases theirs after seeing the Mig-31 offerings). I'll be watching this one. You building a hi-vis or low-vis JR? I just finished up a Tomcat on the opposite end of the spectrum (also JR scheme).....a Hasegawa Eggplane!
Aviano
Hi Helios16v, thanks for your interest! Only low-vis beacuse i will use the kit decals! Oliver
Aviano
Ok, its time for pics! First, let me show you the aircraft i would like to build: 162702, VF-84 Jolly Rogers, USS Theodore Roosevelt, 1989
Aviano
First pics Cockpit sprayed with RAL 7012 (equal Mr. Color 317 respectively FS36231) for the interior, followed with the first Eduard PE. All went fine together, no problems! Following by the instrument panels, also with RAL 7012 and Eduards (not all of them) The last ones, also preparation with PE, sprayed with black (shine). And all of the work on one pic....... Not much, i know but i started her and now i can see where this one will go! Oliver.
Aviano
And, of course, the box Oliver Kit Review here: www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234968970-danger-zone-f-14a-tomcat-148/
Parabat
Hello mate, nice to see this being built, I definitley like the HB Tomcats as they offer so much OOB. This edition by Eduard certainly adds a lot to make it even better though. Have a look at my thread on some of the quirks, it may help you out in some way. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234956693-148-hobby-boss-f-14d-build-fixes/ I have built two of these HB F-14's and until the AMK kit comes out I'll continue to build them. Looking forward to more of your build!

Aviano
Thanks Simon! Yesterday i started with the landing gear and finishing the cockpit, but slowly slowly Then work goes on to the RESIN parts, never work with this. Must look, the Brassin seats looks amazing. More pics on saturday! Oliver
helios16v
Yeah, love the resin seats. That's the one upgrade I've done on 1 of my recent builds (1/72 SR-71) and again on my current project (1/48 RA-5C). I'm trying an Eduard PE kit in the RA-5C for the first time too, as it was significantly cheaper than a full Aires cockpit (which was godawful tempting ). Ultimately $17 for some Quickboost resin seats + Eduard PE won out over $35 for the Aires cockpit.
