Spookytooth
Well after the P 47 D build finished, it is now time to pick up this build. I started this while finishing the Jug, but had not added anything, glue / filler etc til now. It is for a GB on another forum Imodeler. Well, the boxtop pic I suppose. And this version. She is an old beast 1979 so the mould says. Sorry about the angle, P/B again. She will be a big beast, for me, though I have a lot bigger kits to build. Some annoying ejector pin marks though, Sample below. Well I made a start on the tail hook, moulded to each side of the fuselage. So I cut them off, fnar. I have got more done but need to upload etc , so will update tomorrow. All comments welcome. Simon.

Spookytooth
Next update.. The tailfin has an inlet at the base of it. Not all that good. So out with the scalpel and files. I have refined this up some more and will post a pic when taken. Also prepped up some bits for priming etc. Have spent the night filing holes, great. but it is a job out of the way. Spookytooth
Hi Folks, time for a quick update. First of all, thanks for all the comments, it is giving me more encouragement . The tailfin inlet? Yes I have an idea of using a piece of card glued in side somehow. I have been mainly prepping up stuff, filling etc. Mostly boring but annoying E/P marks. As the pit has to be fitted to the fuselage before closure, I made a start here. Get out here quick handle holes drilled .3mm, will form the handles later. The same for the back seat. As for the seats, I am going with the kit ones, money is tight. The detail is fine an a bit soft but again it is an old kit. But there is a problem, a nasty E/P mark had come through the side of one of them. As it was going to be visible and no room inside the fitting groove. A piece of stock .2mm sheet was cut and glued into place ether side. They will be trimmed when set. While playing around with plastic card, I had noticed in a dry fit that the U/C fit was poor. A gentleman's parts in a bucket fit. So a quick slip of card filled the gap, so. Here they are now setting. They will also be trimmed when set. I am still working on the inlet at the moment, so will post pics when that is done. Again, thanks for the encouragement people, it helps a lot. All comments welcome. Simon. Air-to-Air
I always enjoy seeing the detail in a kit, so this up-close style of photography is a hit with me.

Cheers Rob, I have got a Macro mode on the camera. A great tool, the camera, the pics you take show up a lot of things you would not normally see with the MK 1 eyeball. Spookytooth
Cheers Giemme, that camera can be your friend, or your enemy if you don`t notice quick enough. Anyhow, an update. Seat problem sorted. All trimmed, now to sort the top piece of the seat which has not the best of joins ??? And the U/C problems, solved for now. The nose wheel leg was simple enough, the locating pin was to long. Will post pics at a later posting. While waiting for the parts to dry, I found more of these blighters. E/P marks. on the Sidewinders, ahhhhh. Will post an up date as and when. All comments welcome. Simon.

Air-to-Air
While waiting for the parts to dry, I found more of these blighters. E/P marks. on the Sidewinders, ahhhhh. Apart from the ejection pins, that looks like a pretty accurate representation of a sidewinder in 1/48. It's not as refined as Eduard's resin offering, but the shape of the nose is correct, the missile body clamps and arming pin have been rendered and the rear fins have the rollerons, triangular cross section and narrowing at the rear of the fin, just like the real thing. An impressive bit of injection moulding. These could be worked up into some very nice scale sidewinders with some careful painting.
giemme
Simon, ejection pins area a real PITA, but as Rob says, looks like there's a lot of great details in this kit. Keep it up Ciao
Spookytooth
Hi all, thanks for the comments. The sidewinders are a nice rendition, we will see once there is a coat of primer on. Talking of pesky E/P marks, I found a lovely sink mark in the nose wheel leg, charming.... To aid painting, the seats had a hole drilled up their bottom fnar fnar. Before attacking the cockpit with little bits of masking tape, prior to priming. I have just about got to the end of prepping soon. Just a few parts to sort out before I can start putting some primer and colour down. Work calls on Saturday so will doubt if much will get done before then, such is life LOL. All comments welcome.
