Takom Chieftain Mk10 - in Berlin Brigade camo.

Recommended Posts

Hi Bruce,

I used Humbrol Matt White 33 + a few drops Humbrol 250 for the slightly off-white colour, Humbrol 98 Chocolate + White 33 about 1:1 and Revell 79 Grey + White 33 about 1:1 again - I'm not exactly sure how much I added, I just kept mixing till it looked about right.

Hi Shermaniac,

I painted the rear deck green to begin with, but as I hunted for pictures I could only find a couple that showed that area. One was too ambiguous to say either way (and a Mk 5), but the other to me anyway, looks brown http://www.1420h.org.uk/photos/page43/page43.html , this is the same vehicle in a poor old state http://smallcoginabigwheel.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/chieftain-berlin-brigade.html in image 24 in particular it looks brown. The caveat with this one is whether or not it has been repainted by the new owners. But what swung it for me was a rare in service shot http://www.network54.com/Forum/47209/thread/1446486565/Color+callouts+on+Takom+Chieftain+kit. Although you can't see the top deck the rubber surround has been painted brown - why paint it brown if the adjacent deck is green? was my logic.

Anyway none of the above is proof of anything and there's still time to repaint it if you've got information that it should be green. :)

Dave.

Hi all,

Quick update:-

Chieftain%2015_zpsiu1b8pmw.jpg

I've added the wheels, tracks and side armour and few other bits and pieces.

I've got a few more bits to add and lot more work to do on the painting, if it goes well tomorrow I should get it at least 90% finished.

Dave.
