So next I need to get the detail painting done, the Gatling Gun, Antennas, Nav lights etc. Also the weapons will need painting/glossing/decalling.

Quite a good reference for the AGM65

Have half recovered the "Wing King" tail stripe colours, fashioning a repair...but in doing so only one side is complete, with not enough for the other side:

The Q is, do I wait and hope to get a set to put the fill strip on to the Port side, or do I strip back to the rudder and have it as a rudder feature only?

Managed to get the rest on, however they were so delicate and trying everything to break up....

Also used some Revell Decals I got as spares online to start the main stencils:

It is looking good.

Re the tail bands - can you just swap them for another set? I think you have a few options in the Tamiya sheet? Also pretty sure the instructions mixed up tail flashes with serial numbers... ;)

Thanks all.

The Tamiya set I have is an original with early decals.

Will check my post Jabba- thanks .

Sure I will sort something.

I promised the spares to someone - apologies 😁

Ah, I didnt realise they were different between boxings.

I have the "Vultures" black and white bands that would suit a WR aircraft I believe. Give me a shout if needed.

Decals mostly all done and sealed in with gloss, awaiting some new tail stripes, kindly donated by Jabba, just those to apply and seal in.

A little bit of silvering with the revell decals I had to use (picked up from E Bay) as I have an Italeri kit with decals and the Tamyia kit decals were from the original kit and not really suitable for the in-service jets.

The decals were a bit thick and difficult to work with, plenty of Micro Sol and set, still some silvering....hopefully the matt coat will hide it a bit.

Weathering wise I am not going overboard. All the pics of Bentwaters Hogs seem, to be pretty clean, as can be seen on the pics from this Flickr group...some amazing pics of lizard and original grey cam. Used it for decal references, if you look you will see such variation in placement of many of the rescue, ejector seat stencils etc. Invaluable references.

Just need to get some oils on around the exhaust, think that will do the job, not too much, most references show quite clean aircraft.

Enjoyable build, even for an old mould, it went together well. Love the freehand spraying, made easier by the sheer size of the thing. Battle with the decals, but hey, will look good on my eldests ceiling!!

Thanks for the help, comments and knowledge. Onto the GR5, have an SR71A sitting there looking at me, time is short but maybe do-able?!
