Homebee
An Fw 189 is labelled as '2016NEW' Likely it is the coming ICM, same with the Do 17Z-2 Yes, Fw.189 & Do.27 are the ICM kits: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234994948-172-focke-wulf-fw189a-1-a-2-uhu-by-icm-release-q2-q3-2016/ http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234975686-172-dornier-do17z-2-z-10-by-icm-box-art-do17z-10-released/?p=2220107 There's in fact nothing really new (I mean no new tool a/c kit, just new some variants) in this Hasegawa's flyer for Shizuoka 2016. 172flogger
Some kits are with new sprues. Almost anime sci-fi. Gerwalk VF-1D Valkyrie will be released this month with double seat cockpit and updated nose. Edited April 12, 2016 by 172flogger
LanceB
There's in fact nothing really new (I mean no new tool) in this Hasegawa's 2016 folder. V.P. Well, if you ignore the all-new Mikasa (and Nissan Sunny with new-tool parts), that's true. No new-tool aircraft on this file for the summer of 2016. It is just the Shizuoka announcement flyer for June and July (and one May item), not the entire list for all of 2016. SeaVenom
Yes it does seem to be the same old stuff over and over. Boring old Japanese cars like that Nissan Sunnytruck, aircraft reissues and the usual grey battleships. It wouldn't be so bad if one company took a risk and gave us a supertanker or something instead of yet another grey battleship.
Mountain goat
They're celebrating their 75th anniversary I see. Happy birthday Hasegawa! But my two yen - They're really delving into the anime/ games/ fantasy market nowadays - such as the Espada Draken; this release will mean other things to the Ace Combat gamer than lovers of Swedish jets. Vanilla planes and ships presumably aren't as much of a growth market; such items instead remain part of the traditional market I guess. It's a business after all, so as to new releases, they've made what are -again presumably- sound business decisions on what they think will make them *more* money. Though I hope they're gonna bring out some really cool new-tool 1/72 jets this year. Like the <insert wishlist>. Jay
occa
I like the announcement for the Ki-67 with blanked off turrets, that's actually a new version if I am not wrong ... http://www.hasegawausa.com/product-pages/hsgs2205.html
Giorgio N
We should not forget that the number of anime/manga/Sci-fi modellers in Japan is huge, these kind of kits way outsell aircrafts, vehicles and all other kits. Hasegawa is simply following what their home market requests
Greg B
Well, they are certainly pushing out the new decal releases.........

occa
They have actually released it before: http://www.1999.co.jp/10024495 You are partly right, tho that was the long range version with extended wing tips, very similar but not exactly the same version. I should have looked through my stash, I have 00298 even I just found out. I had forgotten it had blanked off turrets too.
